Terrible I spoke to a "Joe" late morning and explained thoroughly what I needed done.I needed a front door re-keyed, keyed alike.Joe told me it would be $20.00 for the service call and $20.00 for the locks rekeyed with 2 keys.I explained to Joe that I would be home by 2:00 P.M.My daughter and I arrived home at 1:50 P.M.at 2:15 a gentleman with a yellow locksmith shirt and appeared unbathed showed up.After approximately 3 minutes after placing one of our keyes in the door he said that the lock couldnt be re-keyed.At which point I said ok I will be more than happy to pay him $20.00 for his service call and deal with changing the locks at a later date. The locksmith technician asked me my budget and I said that my budget was less than $50.00. The tech said he would call his boss and see if he could get him to do it for $45.00 seeing that he was already at the house. He stepped outside and spoke in a foreign language and came back and said he agreed to $45.00.I was ok with paying $20.00 for the service call and $45.00 for the lock replacements and of course tax.He proceeded to replace the lock and knob but not the waterfall handle. After job was complete the technician made out the receipt. The technician asked me to fill in the top of the receipt because he said his handwriting was poor. I noticed there was no heading with company name on the receipt it appeared to be handwritten. Now I looked at the price breakdown and my jaw dropped.First line was $29.00 for service call.(was told $20,00) Then Lock price was $45.00 X's 2=$90.00 (Was told $45.00 total) and, $34.00 labor fee which was never ever discussed plus $10.00 tax.The total went to $166.00 from $45.00 promised. I would have been ok with the promised $20.00 service call and $45.00 for the locks. After I asked what happened to the price I was promised, how could this happened, and asked why I wasnt told of all these extraneous charges.I could have easily bought a replacement set for less than $100 from a retail store and install myself. The technician rushed payment and requested only cash. I felt robbed. I felt that this was the plan from the start. I told him for the price he gave me. I would appreciate if he could take the lock off and replace my old one.My daughter was getting nervous and upset so I paid the technician,$100 cash and $66 on credit card because of gut feeling. Then he asked me for tip I was floored.Technician didnt leave the old lock.Whicj leads me to think this was the plan if he left the old lock it would have foiled his reasoning for being unable to re-key.I think from start to finish I was taken for a ride and paid way too much.
