Frank showed up with a helper and the two of them spent the day painting and staining. When I checked back in later that afternoon I was appalled at what I saw:
Ceiling did not receive two coats and in many areas it appeared only the primer had been applied
Walls did not receive two top coats either and around the edges the work was so sloppy as to be comical
Stain was horrible. They had tried to paint, with a brush, two coats of stain without removal and drying between coats. In addition, they had splattered stain into the new grout on the floors and wall and all over the new marble tile. Stored stain can in the new marble shower soap and shampoo alcove, uncovered with a rag spreading stain onto the tile and grout.
When questioned, Frank told me he was a "professional" and wasn't done. Yes, he was.
End result, my GC had to rip out all the molding, sand door jambs back to raw wood, regrout the floor and shower, and spent hours cleaning and wiping up the mess. New door and molding were ordered at GC cost.
If Frank or his helper show up - lock your doors. They are incompetent and lazy and will cut corners and make you sorry you ever let them in the front door.
