Review of Floors To Go of Boca Raton If you want a flooring store with a condescending and arrogant owner, Tim Jones, and the false sense of protection and recourse by choosing a national name, then Floors to Go of Boca Raton is the place for you. If, however, you want a store whose owner will demonstrate integrity and who will, after two independent contractors –one who is an industry certified inspector- will accept the fact that flawed installation caused all of the problems and will work to make it right then Floors to Go of Boca Raton is NOT the store for you. If you want the reputation and integrity of a national name to provide recourse and not simply be told that each store is an independent franchise and there is really nothing we can do at the corporate level, then Floors To Go of Boca Raton is NOT the store for you. We could certainly elaborate on all of the unpleasant details of our experience with Tim Jones and Floors To Go of Boca Raton (but we won’t) However, we think it is important to understand why we so strongly urge anyone else to avoid the frustration we have encountered. In summary, Floors To Go installed engineered hardwood flooring in all of our bedrooms. Within a few years, one of the boards in our master bedroom seemed to be lifting. We called Tim Jones who sent an installer to inspect what was happening. He “fixed” the problem by screwing the floor down, which we had to pay for because the one-year labor warranty had expired. That solution proved to be temporary because soon after two more boards started to push up against each other. Again, we called Tim Jones. His only explanation was that it must certainly be a problem in our home for which he has no responsibility. He said that before he would even consider a solution, that we needed to have an inspection completed to determine whether or not the cause was a leak since the floor was near an exterior wall. We had a certified plumber cut holes into our cinderblock walls to inspect the area. He determined that there was no current leak nor any indication of a previous leak. We shared the findings with Tim Jones, who still refused to accept responsibility. He contacted the adhesive manufacturer, with whom we also communicated. Will Hutchinson of SIKA Adhesives suggested an inspection by a National Wood Floor Association certified inspector. Again, at our expense, we had another inspection. Within minutes of removing the two most damaged boards, the inspector concluded that, “All the issues with this floor are installer related.” He continued with his inspection. In his formal report, he found that no labor warranty could have ever been valid because the work was never completed properly to begin with. In conclusion, after I shared the findings with Tim Jones, he reiterated his previous stance- that he is not responsible and has no intention of doing anything to correct the issue.

Where to begin? Let me just break it down for you as simply as I can. 1. We bought Shaw Laminate Flooring for the main living area of our home. The price was on the high side but we thought this store had a good rep so we went for it. 2. The flooring cost more than we expected. When questioned Tim gave us double and triple talk. 3. Flooring was installed over a 4 day period Oct 2015. At the end of day 3 his foreman told us that his guys were finishing up and that our balance due was to be paid at this time. My husband and I looked at what needed to be done and thought it reasonable for the job to be finished that evening. After the foreman left an installer told us no way the floors would be done that night and started showing us places in closets and corners that were not done. We called the foreman right away and told him not to cash the check, but he must have used one of the cash by phone apps, because the check was gone. 4. Next day workers come back, they did not have enough edging. 5. Glue they were using was very toxic, we asked them to use something else, they could not find something less toxic. Stood us up 3 times to finish the job. My husband found a less toxic glue at Home Depot. 6. We decided not to ripe up some tile and asked for a refund of ripping up the tile plus 4 boxes of flooring, which Tim has his installer take back. We asked for a refund. 7. In Oct of 2016, yes a year later, we got a partial refund, about $350 less than what was owed us. Our floors are still not done. Most of our things are still in boxes because we were hoping to get the job done. We took the check just to be done with it. 8. One hellish year. Tim did not answer e-mails or calls. He lied to our lawyer, yes we had to hire one. This store is so untrustworthy that even Angie's List is a having a problem with them. Please, save yourself a lot of heartache, stay away from Floors To Go Boca at any cost.

The whole process went very smoothly.  Tim at Floors To Go gave me the best price for the product I wanted.  The installer, Anderson, and his men were professional and did a beautiful job.  This is the second time in 6 years that I have used Floors to Go. I love my new floors and am very happy with the services I received.

  • The good - Materials - price-shop this provider for materials.  Their prices are competitive.
  • The bad - Installation - the vendor outsources the installation and relies on the subcontractors to complete the work.
We were assured by Tim at Floors to Go (FTG) that they have done many installations of steps (including rounded steps).  The initial installation left us with the rise and run on the two bottom steps being significantly different from the rest of the steps causing a true safety hazard.  After much pushing, FTG agreed to replace and re-install.  This took several weeks and many emails and phone calls to ensure the project was completed.  In the end, the floors and steps were installed with mostly consistent rise and run.
However, a number of items were left for us to deal with as a result of the installation.  Punch list items were first scoffed at and mostly dismissed.  After several intense discussions, the owner of FTG finally came to the home to inspect and with very little discussion, agreed to a credit on my final invoice.
Therefore - I would not recommend FTG for installation, but would recommend FTG for materials.

"Dear Member, We are sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your 2011 out-of-labor-warranty repair experience for the Wilsonart laminate floor installed in 2009. Wilsonart Laminate Floors closed their factory in 2010 and as you can imagine, parts are next to impossible to find. It was a rare situation. Fortunately, you found a contact that helped you to locate the additional t-molds. Based on our records, Floors To Go charged you a significantly reduced rate of $50 for the out-of-warranty repair. We value feedback from all of our customers and are continually working to improve the after sales experience. Please contact us directly with any future concerns you have and we would be happy to address them."

The sales person was very friendly and helpful. The installer did a great job, was very polite and professional, was on time, and worked very hard. I purchased the laminate on Sunday and it was installed on Wednesday. Sales person and installer called to confirm before arrival. Sales person called after the job was complete to make sure I was satisfied.
