"Unfortunately these types of consumers are a business’s worst nightmare. We were called out to the home because of a flood caused by a hot water heater. Upon arrival, we found standing water and proceeded to dry out the home as per IICRC protocol starting with water extraction. We then determined the areas to be dried out with our infrared camera and moisture detectors. We advised the customer to contact a local plumber to replace the water heater so they would have water as the water to the house had to be shut off to prevent further flooding. They contacted a plumber who installed a new water heater. We took out the area rugs affected by the water and had them cleaned and dried by a professional carpet company and then returned the carpets to the home within two weeks. When the rugs were removed by the carpet company, somehow the wood slats that were part of the bed frame were not put back correctly. We did apologize for the situation and did replace the wood slats for the bed. The customer asked us to tear up the wood floors and we advised them that we could save the floors as they were salvageable with proper drying. They were not satisfied with our answer and wanted all the floors torn out and replaced at the expense of the insurance company. We advised them that the insurance company has to make the determination of whether or not the floors should be replaced. The following day they hired a public adjuster who advised them that what we did was incorrect and they should remove us from their property and hire the company he works with and recommended. As requested, we removed our equipment. We then sent them an invoice for work performed. Their insurance company only paid a portion of the invoice and we billed them for the balance as is usual and customary for the industry. They refused to pay so we filed suit. This review is in response to our lawsuit and the bottom line is they don’t want to pay for services rendered over a year ago."
