Artisan Nails

The salon seemed clean and the staff was friendly.  They were able to get us right in which may have been a clue I should have picked up on.  We only asked for basic mani / pedis.  The polish started peeling off the next day.  Within 2 days, my daughter noticed a sore spot at the base of her cuticle.  Within a week, she went to the doctor because her finger was very red and almost double in size from swelling.  He diagnosed an infection.  After a week on antibiotics, it was not getting any better.  Her family doctor referred her to a hand surgeon who numbed her finger, opened it up to drain the infection and removed her finger nail.  She is on Keflex and Bactrim antibiotics for another 7-10 days, and Vicodin for the pain.  She is right handed and the infected finger is on that hand, so she's pretty limited as to what she can do.  She has to pull the gauze off every day and apply fresh gauze.  Since the gauze sticks to the open nail bed, she has to soak it and then rip off the gauze.  The medical bills are piling up, she has missed several hours of work between the pain and the doctor appointments.  All this from a manicure from equipment or products that weren't clean.
