I called All Ways Mobile Appliance Repair out of Beverly Hills, FL to repair a leaking, 5 year old LG front loading washer. A serviceman named ?Ty? responded. He disassembled much of the washer, ran it, and located a rip in the vinyl gasket that seals the door. He called it a ?boot.? He also identified a problem before it became a crisis, where a hose was rubbing against another hose which vents the drum. He said he would order both parts and get back, probably in about a week.
He returned a week later and installed both parts. The washer no longer leaks.
Ty is courteous, knowledgeable, competent, and efficient. He uses tools well, and does not over-torque screws and nuts, an important consideration when working with thin sheet metal and plastic. He understands washing machines and most likely many other appliances.
Ty apparently does not own the company for which he works. The company insists on giving a unitary price, without any breakdowns for parts and labor. I was given the unitary price and insisted that a breakdown be provided. It was, two days later, which was satisfactory to me.
It is hard to compare prices. I do not think the price I paid was a bargain. Based on automobile labor rates, with which I am familiar, the price quoted appears to have a very considerable mark-up built into it, and that goes for the price of the gasket as well.
I am satisfied with the work that was done, but the price was about one-third the cost of a new washing machine. Any higher and I would have scrapped the machine and bought a new one.
By the way, I would not buy an LG washer again. The rip most likely was caused by the tabs on a hose clamp installed to retain a union between the door gasket and a hose that feeds excess water from the gasket back into the drum. A crummy design choice and very questionable factory installation. And the rubbing of hoses mentioned above is also a crummy design and assembly issue. LG does not deserve the ratings it gets from Consumer Reports.

It was very good. It was quick to get there. They are efficient with their job. They are very nice to deal with. I would value them and use them if they have problems with any of their appliances. The price was very reasonable.

They came out two times. The first time, they came out and it was working just fine. It stopped working again. They came out the second time and just replaced the electronic part. They did a fantastic job. Everything is working perfectly. The service was done as promised and on time. I would use them again.
