This turned out to be a nightmare and I was ripped off for $4,000. I met this company because he is related to one of my neighbors. I called around for estimates for the fence job. After speaking with him he called every couple of days telling me how much he wanted the job and what good work he does. I took his bid of $12,222 to fence the perimeter of ten acres and a cross fence through it with two gates. I first hired him to build a small pole barn with stalls. He began the barn and told about these wonderful boards he was going to use that had rounded edges. They turned out to be deck boards not 2x6's (which had to be reinforced w/posts). Before he finished the barn he asked for the fence deposit. He finished the barn and was suppose to start on the fence. He cashed my $6,600 check and then was a no show on the fence job. He didn't call and when I called him I got his voice mail. I left a message and told I assumed he wasn't going to do the job and I wanted my money back. He returned my call and said that he didn't mean to scare me and had a family matter to attend to but would start the work. When he finally showed he would arrive at 11am and work for an hour. Shane Carlisle uses every excuse in the book as to why he can't show up to work. When I asked him how long it was going to take to install the fence he bragged and said only a few days. He continued to work sporatically. He put up approximately 1/3 of the post and wire. the only fencing left on my property was the boards to go around the top of the fence. He never bought the remaining fence material except for the gates which he did not bring to my property. The money he was given was enough to buy the fencing and a portion of the labor. Before he finished that 1/3 he began demanding another $5,600 and then claimed that the survey done on my property was wrong and that the fence was going to cost me more than $2,000 more that he had estimated. At this point I knew I was in trouble. I at first gave him a $4,000 check even though I know I should'nt have. I checked my watch and discovered that he had missed cashing that check by just a few minutes. I called him and told him that the check would be no good and that I realized that I was losing alot of money but I could no longer use him because he was not getting the job done, was demanding more money than he should need at that time and he raised the cost. He said he was thinking about quitting anyway because he couldn't take the pressure. I think that means of having to work for the money. He said that he would finish the 1/3 by putting the board top on and installing the gates. He never showed and after calling the fencing company I learned he returned the gates I paid for and kept the money. I had to hire another fence company and learned what a bad job Carlisle Fencing had done on the small amount they did do. Not one post was properly set in the ground. You could effortlessly wiggle every one of them. They had just stuck them in the ground and kicked some dirt around them. The portion of the fence they put up was not stretched and this expensive no climb fence was stapled to the post and flopped like clothes on a clothes line in the breeze. I had to buy the gates that I had already paid for again and pay for the existing fence to be fixed. A closer inspection of the pole barn also revealed what poor workmanship this company turns out. I had to remove the stall gates and reinstall them to be level and properly aligned. I also discovered that one of the hurricane clips had only one nail holding it on. I also called the survey company which was outraged over him claiming the survey was wrong and left them to deal with that dishonesty. Upon researching this company on the State of Florida Sunbiz website I learned that the address listed is false and you will not find Shane Carlisle at it. He uses a post office box so he can't be found. I also discovered that they have in the past listed themselves as Carlisle Fence Enterprises,LL and do not send the reports required by the state. This company is a big hoax. They are looking for money not work. I lost several thousand dollars with this company but cut my losses before I got ripped for even more.
