Springer Bros. did not have the highest or lowest bid received for this job, but they offered the most for the money by adding a Nexia thermostat. But, as anyone who’s bought an a/c system knows, you can buy a great system, but if it’s not installed well, you might as well have bought the cheapest one. So, it’s all about the install. And these guys deserve Super Service Award status. The difference is like night and day. My power bill averages 25-30% lower, the humidity stays around 50%, and I can barely hear it running. The team of Chris and Chris were more than professional. They arrived on time, worked diligently all day long and cleaned up after themselves. But that’s not all. One Chris determined that the elevated enclosure off my laundry room housing the air handler needed to be rebuilt. (He said he could see into the garage from there. Not good.) Then he did so with the skill of a carpenter. Having family members who do carpentry, I was very impressed that he did such a clean (tight corners, etc.), solid job in an area that would not be seen. All at NO extra charge. That says a lot about the company. He then installed the air handler with the same attention to detail. The other Chris mounted the condenser on a pad around the corner away from my family room window (as requested). He then built, attached, and sealed a neat, paintable aluminum cover to the side of the house to hide the roughly 10-12 feet of additional plumbing and electric. Nice. The other Chris also crawled ALL over my attic with no flooring, in 120+ degrees (It was June.), to check the duct work. Later, the supervisor came out to make sure I was happy with the job and I felt confident that he would fix any problems if I wasn’t. In conclusion, I think choosing Springer Bros. was the best decision I could have made. I got the most for the money and a great installation with measurable improvements.

I contacted Springer Air Condition upon their glowing recommendations on the internet from their clients. We had recently purchased a home wherein the master bedroom was about 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. Called Springer A/C and they sent out Nate Blaschke, their installation manager. He was prompt and extremely courteous. During this time, we heard how lucky he was to work for Springer family and could not wait for the owner to retire, as he would take his place and move up the ladder. This is not what any customer needs to hear as they are discussing work that needs to be completed on their homes. He looked over the ductwork and the air handler and stated that he needed to replace the ductwork back to the plenum after he replaced both the plenums as they were vibrating too much, and place a return in the master bedroom which would solve the problem. The cost of this venture was just under 1K. We agreed and it was scheduled 30 days out (because of the heat and a vacation – which I found out was his upon calling to see if we could move the appointment up as we were suffering in the new home. After leaving two messages for Nate to contact us back, without the courtesy of a return phone call; we had to find another company that would get our problem corrected as soon as possible. I have since hired another company, out of Eagle Lake, which came out the after my first call, no charge for the diagnosis and within a week had the problem corrected for a reasonable rate. I would recommend that you NOT contact Springers if this is how they treat their clients.

Also, when Nate arrived at your home you were rightfully, as anyone should be when hiring a new contractor, concerned about his credentials. Nate has been with our company for over 20 years, is one of the most experienced, hard working individuals in our industry, and will one day have part ownership with the Springer brothers and family. However, the Springer family will always have majority ownership and be involved in day to day operations. I'm sorry Nates credentials upset you, but most of our customers like that Springer Bros. has many great employees that have been with us for decades. Lastly, above it states we completed the job for you for $998 on 8/14/17. I want to clarify that we did not complete any work for you and only provided you an estimate. I sincerely apologize again we upset you and we are happy you were able to get your problem solved to make you comfortable in your home. Thank you."

He was very thorough with both the outside and inside units. He was able to clean the external coils, but this service did not cover cleaning the coils on the inside of the unit. I was told that I would need to set up another appointment for that to be done. I was given multiple quotes for various services.

I was disappointed after reading so many favorable reviews about Springer Brothers. They charged $141 to clear a partially clogged drain line, an outrageous price for what amounted to ten minutes' work. Two things troubled me even more. One is the way the technician accessed our back yard. The yard is accessed through a gate that is secured with a padlock – the padlock isn't locked, but keeps the gate from being pushed open. Rather than ask for backyard access (or, simply going through the back door of the house, since he was already there), the technician went to the effort of reaching through the gate and removing the padlock, then going into the yard without my knowledge. A contractor should never access any part of a homeowner's property without their knowledge and permission. I can't help wondering why the technician felt the need to be so secretive. That led to my second concern. After sneaking into our backyard, the technician started breathlessly listing all the problems with our system. He showed me a series of numbers that, according to him, seemed to prove that the world was ending. But when I asked for an explanation of what these numbers meant, I didn't get much. The problems seemed to boil down to: it's low in refrigerant, there MIGHT be a refrigerant leak, and there were some areas where the duct work in the attic needed to be resealed. He vaguely mentioned the possibility of recharging the refrigerant and doing a leak check, but showed no interest in actually doing these things. He left me with the impression that Springer Brothers would only work with us if we decided to purchase an entirely new system. I repeatedly made it clear that we can't afford that at the present time, but he wasn't interested. (Considering their fee for the 10-minute effort of clearing the drain line, I can't imagine how much they would overcharge for that, anyway.) I had to sign a receipt stating that the system was cooling the house. At the time it wasn't, and the technician acknowledged that verbally. The receipt also stated that we declined a leak check and having the system recharged – in fact, those options were not seriously offered, because the technician was so insistent that we buy a whole new system. I asked for a quote for recharging the coolant, which the tech quickly glossed over because of his apparent disinterest. The end result is that we've called someone else to evaluate our system, and when we are able to afford a new system, Springer Brothers won't get our business.

I reviewed our invoice for the job, our GPS records, and met with our technician regarding your concerns. Our van arrived in your driveway at 2:08 pm on 7/12/16. We were at your home a little over an hour (until 3:13 pm), not including travel time to the job. It is very important to us that our customers get what they pay for so during this time our technician not only cleaned your drain line, but taped up old, damaged duct work in your attic, checked your system pressures, and checked your air handler. Our technicians are always told to give a thorough, honest evaluation of a customer's system. So, since your system was low on refrigerant, our technician recommended a leak check to determine where the system was leaking. He was just being thorough. Please know that our technicians are highly trained HVAC repair professionals and are not salesman. We do not allow our technicians to sell equipment. We only allow them to give honest recommendations and whether a customer wants a free estimate to replace the equipment is up to the customer. I looked at the serial number of your system and it is 19 years old. Since the system is extremely old, was a little low on refrigerant, and the duct work attached to the unit was in poor shape, our technician recommended that you get a free estimate on replacing it. I'm sorry if he upset you but he was just trying to let you know the condition of your system. Also, I'm sorry you feel like he invaded your privacy. He was there to repair your air conditioning system and your air conditioning system is in the back yard. After coming inside to greet you, he went out to his van to get his tools to fix your system. We try to limit carrying tools through peoples homes and do not want to track a dirt in and out. So, he went through your gate to get to where your system is to respect your home and help keep it clean. I'm sorry again for disappointing you. I hope this explanation helps. Thank you."

When your a/c goes out in Florida on a hot June afternoon, you need a company that will respond quickly. We found Springer Brothers on Angie's List (and how often do you find a provider with only A ratings?!) and called 15 minutes before they were scheduled to close for the day. Within two hours, a very knowledgeable, polite, professional technician - Kevin - arrived. He did a very thorough job of diagnosing and repairing the problem. He was tidy and made sure everything was returned to its place and secured. We are delighted to have established a relationship with a company that is reliable and professional, and were pleased to purchase their annual maintenance package.

I really cannot fully express how satisfied and happy we have been with this process. We had spent MONTHS interviewing local businesses in an effort to find a competent and conciencious company and installers. I have respiratory issues and we did enough research to know that installation was even more important than the system itself. Every other person we interviewed were really just car salesmen of a different sort. And the Joe Springer arrived. From the first moment it was clear he was honest, honorable and supremely competent. They have bent over backwards to make sure all of our needs and desires were realized. We intend to have them maintain it on a regular basis because, unlike other companies who say they "service" your A/C, I KNOW they will keep our unit running optimally without charging us for unnecessary add on's. I feel that they are as invested in their products and service as I am.
