The Gregory Group, Inc.

On 9/6/2014, we sent an email to The Gregory Group via Angie's List asking if they could do the work we needed (we explained what the work was).   In addition, we requested if a free estimate could be provided.  No response from The Gregory Group was received.  Then, on 9/12/2014, we left a phone message at the phone listed in Angie's List asking if they could please answer our email.  On the same date, we sent a second email via Angie's :List asking if they were still in business  and if they could please respond to our email and phone call.  Six business days later and we have heard absolutely nothing from The Gregory Group.

I am satisfied and plan to use them again soon....I have a long list of much needed repairs, but because of the economy, can only do a few things at a time.  (see above for details)

I happened to be home for a couple of days early on in the project. The first item was the pergola. Greg was not happy with some of the lumber that had been delivered and saw to it that those boards were returned for better ones. I saw how much time and effort he put into making certain that the posts were all square and plumb. At least half a day was spent placing the posts, checking, moving slightly and checking again until he was satisfied. These two actions impressed me very much. I was doing some new landscaping myself to go along with all this. Greg was good about waiting until I had an important centerpiece of it completed before beginning the prep for the pavers. In fact, it was his suggestion that I should complete that portion before his guys came in to do the pavers. Once the pavers got started, the patio and walkway were put in place very quickly, and the end result was better than I had imagined. One word of caution, and this applies to any contractor, don't assume anything. My patio was to have a border around the edge in a contrasting color. It seemed obvious to me that the pavers, which are rectangular, would be laid end to end. However, the crew started to lay them side by side thinking that would make the curves smoother. Fortunately, this was caught in time, and after some experimentation, the end to end method that I expected was able to be done and looks great. The final piece, the outdoor kitchen also turned out to be very nice. In the early design phase, I was trying to arrange for seating around the bar top that would not have my guests sitting and looking at the back of my house, and would also give me a nice area to work in. We went back and forth going over various layouts and eventually came up with a solution that I like very much. This is probably one of the things I liked best about working with Greg; he really listened to what I wanted and was open to brainstorming ideas until we both felt like we had a good, workable solution, while still staying on budget. He was also good at tossing out ideas and recommendations for supporting work, such as irrigation and lighting. This was not done as part of a hard-sell, but more as a courtesy to make certain I hadn't missed something in my plans that would be more costly to add in later on. I would definitely recommend him for your outdoor projects.

Greg Birdsong came right away to give us a quote for the job. He was thorough and professional, even offering an alternate solution to our paver dilemma (large circle, but not large enough!). We ended up going with his solution and could not have been happier. When we ran short of pavers at the end, he took control and had the job completed before 9 am the next morning. He even removed our existing path and laid the pavers where it had been. We are throughly impressed with his knowledge and professionalism and highly recommend him for paver installation. Maybe we will use him for a cool fire-pit next!
