I had diagnosed a problem with my LG washing machine and went to Atlantic Coast Appliance for a new pump (I wanted to support a local company rather than buying elsewhere). My concern--and this review--arises from the fact that they charged me $75 ($80 with tax) for a part that costs $30-$45 online and $40-$60 at other parts stores in the area. When I later called back to ask why the part was so expensive, I was told that "we have to make profit" and that had I purchased a part online I would have had to pay shipping (it ships free from any number of online retailers and ships for $4-$8 from others).
It should be noted that they are a small company that deserves to make a profit on parts and that the people in the store were friendly and helpful in person. I also must acknowledge that had I taken the time to shop around, I would have realized that their prices were not in line with others. But while I want to support local companies, a mark-up of 40-60% of the RETAIL PRICE (a rate that they don't pay) is excessive. The dismissive attitude by the person at the store when I called to question the price did nothing to restore my trust in them.

On June 24th we contacted the provider to fix the ice maker of our refrigerator.  The repair man, David, came on time and unclogged the ice maker.
On June 25th - the refrigerator was leaking water to our downstairs and the entire unit stopped working.  We called Atlantic Coast Appliance on the 26th.  They sent David again who looked more interested in proving that the leaking wasn't his fault than anything else.  He then told us that we now needed a new inverter to fix our unit.
On June 30th - they received the part and came to replace the inverter.  However the ice maker is not working again, and now it appears that he feels we need a new ice maker.  We are now $600 in repairs and still no clear solution to our problem.
The receptionist is not sympathetic nor understanding - and frankly somewhat rude.  They were more adamant of stating that they did not cause our water damage than fixing our ice maker.  We are very disappointed by the way we have been treated and will not be using their services again.

We provided diagnosis, error code, required part info, etc. in advance of the service call. We had the schematic and the step-by-step instructions on the laptop screen directly above the broken wine cooler. The "technician" arrived without the required part, ignored all of the diagrams and instructions, and proceeded to attempt to access the required part from the wrong side of the appliance. He broke a connector in the process. At that point the appliance was more broken than it had been when he arrived.
He then attempted to repair the connector which he had broken, again from the wrong side of the appliance.. When told to look at the diagram, he refused. When asked to stop working, he refused. He continued to attempt to repair the sympton WITHOUT replacing the connector. Instead he remove the connector and kept shortening the wire that led to it. HE REFUSED TO STOP!!!
Finally he made a tenuous connection where the broken connector had been, so the appliance was working as it had been when he arrived,
He didn't repair the problem he was asked to fix. He didn't have the required part, even though the company had been given this information several weeks in advance of the appointment. He left the appliance in worse shape than he found it. He promised to get the required part and perform the repair correctly. We never heard back to the company.
Any time and money spent with this company is wasted.

My bride was home at the time and I was at work.  She questioned the bill and he responded we changed the way we bill.  We know bill like auto mechanics do.  Each job has a price no matter how long it takes us.
Once I got home I called the company and got the repairman who came to our house.  I asked for the owner, but they were not in.  I expressed my dissatisfaction but he said he billed us as he is told to do.  I understand that and asked him to have the owner call me the next day (Friday).  I received no call.  Monday was Labor day and Tuesday morning I still had not received a call.  I called Tuesday afternoon and asked for the owner.  Once again, they where not there.  I got the office manager this time.  She said she would call the owner and I would be called back.  I received a call back in about 10 minutes and it was the office manager, not the owner. She explained that she advocated for me, but the owner stuck to their price.  I had even told the office manager the first time I called that while I may seem like a difficult customer, I was actually a good customer.  One because I was a repeat customer and two because I was giving them a chance to resolve my concerns.
I told the office manager that they have lost my repeat business and they would be posted on Angie's List.  She said she understood but the owner would not reduce the bill.
In summary, any way you slice it, $227.00 to suck out a water line for 30 minutes is too much!
and, The owner was asked to call me and refused to do so.
I would not recommend Atlantic Coast Appliance to anyone!

They made an appointment with me and then called back just before I left work to meet them there to cancel the appointment. Mostly on the premise that I was just outside their service area. They didn't say anything about that when they made the appointment. They did honor the appointment, but an hour later.

Unfortunately, the diagnosis was a blown transmission that Bill said would not be worth repairing relative to the cost of a new washer.  Advice we were somewhat expecting, but appreciated.  He arrived promptly at the time he said and we were fortunate that he was able to come within a couple of hours of our call.  Very professional.  Second time using them.

I used this company years ago when I last had a large appliance go down. Remembering being happy with the company I contacted them again. My freezer was working but the refrigerator stopped cooling. I called and the repairman Bill (excellent employee) he was able to come right over. He fixed the thermostat because (using a diagnostic tool) he could tell it needed replacing but told me the problem could also be the mother board and there was no tool to diagnose that so we would have to wait and see once the new thermostat was replaced. After a few days the refrigerator was cooling erratically so we figured it was also the mother board and called Bill again. We made an appointment (because they had to order the board), he came over and installed a new mother board. He told us to expect the mother board to go through 2 stages to show it was working, it went through stage 1 but not 2 so he pulled the mother board, saying it was defective. He then drove across town to get a new unit for us instead of waiting for it to be delivered to his shop. He installed it and we are all set. Bill was very personable, professional and efficient and so was the company.  They did charge a trip charge first time out...I am not a fan of paying a trip charge and don't know what other companies do in this regard?  Overall, I'm a happy customer once again!

He came the day after I called and very quickly was able to see what had caused the problem. He explained it to me then went out to the truck, where he had the part with him. Everything went very smoothly. I do highly recommend the serviceman and the work supplied by them.

Atlantic Coast Appliance did a good job. I felt they were very honest with me. They didn't overcharge for the amount of work that was done. The repairman was also very friendly.
