Sheds Now

On Sept. 30th, we were required to write 2 checks, one for the shed and one to the county (left blank) for the permit. We were told our shed would arrive in 7-10 days (assembled out of state). 26 days and many phone calls later our shed was delivered & installed WITHOUT a permit. The permit had not even been applied for yet ( I kept track via county web site). When I called & talked to SHEDS NOW owner Laci Jo Gist, she insisted there was no hurry to acquire a permit, that the county wouldn't "fine" US for at least 6 months. I said there was some urgency as we wanted to connect electricity to the shed & couldn't without final inspection. At that point she insisted it would take 4-6 weeks to get a permit. I told her she was now "blowing smoke" as my husband was a carpenter for 30 years and it only takes 2-3 days for this kind of permit (plus I checked with Zoning). When she realized she was caught in a lie, she became uber-defensive, saying she'd give me my money back and I could go get my own permit. I said no, that was what we paid her to do. As it turned out, the permit was not even applied for until Nov. 4, 2011. The check for the permit was cashed by SHEDS NOW, not county zoning, & not cashed until Nov. 17, 2011. But the real clincher is that WE ended up going to zoning ourselves to get the permits AND schedule the inspections. Everything is complete. The shed is great! Top of the line LARK, hurricane ready. That's the only consolation. I would NEVER recommend SHEDS NOW to anyone. Their service time & customer service is appalling. I left more than 10 voicemails & never received even one return call. Only when I persisted, did I get thru and was constantly met with resistance & excuses on every level. I taught customer service most of my life. This is a perfect example of what NOT to do.
