Best ever!

I signed a contract with McNish Outdoor living back in April of 2018. The contractor had many other jobs and took almost 4 months to complete the job. Upon the contract being completed I noticed the permit was never approved or signed by the county. Emiel McNish was horrible when it came to permitting, I did most of the permitting on my own money and labor. Emiel McNish then gave me a story of how he really needed the 3175 dollars for another job, this money was the money to complete all the permitting. I felt bad for him and gave him the money (which I regret), it has been over two years now and he has never completed the permitting and has my 3175 dollars. Over the course of the two years he has strung me along with promises of getting the permitting approved and never has. I would not recommend this contractor to anyone.

We can’t say enough how impressed we are with McNish Outdoor Living. The construction, materials, workmanship, and style were all excellent and were beyond our expectations. Their prices are very competitive beating out the other quotes we got. We are very happy we went with McNish Outdoor Living and planning on having them back when we get the funds to extend our deck.

We had McNish construct a new seawall behind our home about two years ago. The initial workmanship was okay but only after he added $1250 as he said he underestimated the fill material. About a year after the completion of the work the wall collapsed about 2 ft risking damage to the patio above. After several phone calls he finally came out to look. We agreed to a solution and schedule but when told the repair was his dime that seemed to end the conversation. We talked again 3-4 times after delays and excuses and finally he never returned calls. In danger of losing my patio I called another two contractors and was informed by both that the fill used was not correct and the number tiebacks were half of what should have been installed. The price to fix?...more than the initial construction. You can look at all the positive reviews - all quickly after construction. Seriously, you might get a decent looking first product but if anything goes wrong.....well good luck with that. He will string you along with false promises.

Emiel is an awesome craftsman. His work is perfect. Emiel is on the job everyday. Work was performed as scheduled. I highly recommend Emiel McNish as the quality of work is superior. Attached before & after pictures of the deck. Thank you Emiel!

My large outdoor patio had become cracked and the surface was rough and unsightly. In one day the crew cleaned, resurfaced and painted the patio. It looks more beautiful than when it was originally built and I have received many compliments on the workmanship. Highly recommend this company.

Emiel was very knowledgeable and professional and it was clear he knew what he was doing. He replaced the poor supports, added other supports, and put a new roof on the pergola. I now have a place to sit to watch the rain in comfort!

I had the pleasure of working with McNish Outdoor Living twice this past summer. Let me start by saying that I rarely write reviews. I will also add that I am extremely picky and detail oriented.... (bordering on neurotic :). Taking that into consideration, I can't say enough about Emiel and the quality of his workmanship. Emiel repaired and completed our existing (half built) decks by installing railings and several staircases. He also removed rotted wood and replaced it with new. This was a challenging job due to the fact that he had to "clean up" someone else's "messy" work. Throughout it all, he never complained and was extremely accommodating when it came to my many requests. I hired Emiel a second time to build a pergola. He arrived on time and built the Pergola in ONE DAY per my specs. Needless to say, I was thrilled with the outcome of both projects. Emiel is a master carpenter who is dependable, reasonable and easy to work with. I would not hesitate to hire McNish Outdoor Living again and highly recommend his services. I will update my review at a later date with photos.

McNish worked our small project into its busy schedule. The deck was insalled at ground level, wrapping around a screened porch, and providing an opening in the deck for a mature Robellini palm. We know the quality of the work will give us many years of enjoyment. When we have other projects to do, we will call Emiel McNish first!

Emiel was very professional from the first phone call through the end of the build. He and his associate worked together to build a beautiful deck for us in just one day. This was the third time in 30 years that I've had to replace the deck, and Emiel's is by far the best. He uses No. 1 grade ground contact pressure treated lumber, and his craftsmanship is excellent. He even came back one more time to smooth the areas around where the screws were placed and rounded all edges. It looks beautiful! I highly recommend McNish Outdoor Living.

The project was very reasonably priced, and the attention to detail with his woodworking was great.

We had McNish Outdoor estimate re-doing a 16 x 16 dock/ deck. Their price was competitive and offered a 50% deposit with 50% due upon completion. Emiel was very responsive, flexible, friendly and knowledgeable. His team arrived, did the work estimated with quality and on schedule, cleaned up and requested the balance of the payment after his job was reviewed and accepted. Great experience, we will hire again.

Emiel was a delite to work with! I was probably the worst customer ever as I was indecisive as to what I wanted exactly. But Emiel was patient & professional and provided excellent solutions to my never ending questions. In the end he even surprised us with cascading stairs which ended up being a gorgeous effect! This was only possible because he is actually on the job site, not just sending a crew to donthe job. I can't wait til we get a pool and can hire MOL to build a deck for it!

Emeil was responsive from the call for an estimate to scheduling and completion. The quality of work was excellent, highly skilled and functional. The entire crew was personable, skilled and respectful of my concerns and choices. I would highly recommend McNish Outdoor Living to anyone who wants an honest, efficient and skilled contractor.

The whole experience was wonderful.. Emiel was enthusiastic about the project from day 1 and offered great feedback and information on the project as I explained it to him. He explained our options and returned an estimate to me within the agreed upon time. His estimate was more than reasonable and within our budget. He had to get registered in Osceola county for this project and he handled all of the permitting and inspection paperwork. During the actual build his team worked quickly and neatly and completed the project in a reasonable amount of time. Emiel is a true craftsman and artist and it really showed up in this project. We gave him a basic idea of what we wanted and he added in decorative elements that really went above and beyond what we were expecting. Emiel was solution oriented in any obstacles that came up (as they always do in a project) and kept a high level of communication with me each day. The final product is magnificent and we could not be any happier. We have a beautiful outside deck area that will add decades of enjoyment to our home.

By far the easiest decision you can make when undertaking a new deck project. Prices are reasonable and the service and quality exceed expectation. Emiel squeezed our job into his busy schedule knowing we wanted to have a pool deck while the weather was still nice. It showed up on time, consistently, and worked tirelessly until the job was complete. He even came on a saturday to add something that i asked for after the fact snd stayed until it was done. I would absolutly recommend!

Came across McNish Outdoor Living on Angie's List, and gave to say that in the 35 plus years we have used contractors and sub-contractors on our home, Emiel and his crew are without a doubt, some of the most professional and highest quality folks we have ever had the pleasure of working with.
First, there was never a phone call or email that went unanswered more than a couple hours, all communications were clear and succinct leading up to the project.
They arrived ON TIME, and completed the work within the time frame and budget.
Quality of workmanship was excellent, and attention to detail such as perfectly straight screw placement and sanded edges was 100% accurate.
Wish I had found these folks earlier, and will definitely use them for any future dock and neck projects.

Emiel is a credit to his profession and to Angies List.  I was not sure just what I wanted as I already had a 15 year old dock that was really in bad shape......repairing it was not really an option, but with Emiel's careful planning an attention to details I went ahead and got a new dock.  He and his brother were a real team....they accomplished the installation of the dock in record time .. 3 days , but I don't think from the demolition, to building the platforms and cutting the planks and entering the lake to put in pilings etc.took more than probably 10-12 hours over a 3 day period

He is the best of the best and we are very pleased and proud of our new dock.

Very happy to finally have my deck!  Everyone that has seen it says it looks fantastic.


Took two days. The workers cleaned up all signs of construction. I have taken a level and looked hard for ANY unlevel surface. I could not find one. Emiel is a very professional and respectful young man. He did exactly what I asked him to do. They rounded the edges and it looks very finished. I did not expect that.  No doubt this is not his first rodeo.  He was the best price in town I can assure you of that. The deck is solid as a rock.

The only thing I am a bit disappointed in is all the knot holes in the planks.  This is not Emiel's fault but just the type of planks the industry saves for situations that don't require "perfect" looking wood I suppose.  Some of the deck planks are split almost the entire length and there are knot holes on every plank.  Some are missing the knot in the hole which I am a bit worried will hole the water and cause rot.  I have never built a deck before so I guess this is what  quality #1 pressure treated wood for outdoor use is supposed to be.  Once the wood cures a bit more I will fill the knot holes and stain my deck. I'm sure it will be lovely when this is done.

I needed work done quickly to satisfy the demands of my homeowner's insurance company, and Emiel was highly response.  He provided a quick estimate and finished the work within a few days.  Now I have a very nice looking and functional wooden landing and step on my house.  I would definitely recommend McNish Outdoor Living.

Service was great. Emiel laid everything out and was specific throughout the entire process. The porch and pergola were built exactly as they were specified in the design plan. The project was done professionally and efficiently. Not only that, everything was cleaned up perfectly.
