I call the number and I never got a reply

Very good service. We came from our home in South Orlando to Mr. Gauvin's business in Altamonte Springs (near I-4!), and he kindly fixed the Singer machine while we waited. Price was reasonable, I can't remember exactly, but it was under $100. We would definitely use him again and recommend him to others.

I was in the middle of sewing project, and my machine made a noise, and quit working. I called the "Doctor" and arranged to have my machine repaired. I dropped my machine off on 4/29/17. The Doctor said that several of the gears needed replacing, and that it would be about $100 to fix. That was fine, because it is a 35 year old machine, and this was the first time it has needed repair. I felt my machine (a Singer) was better than anything that I could purchase. The Doctor said that it would take 1-2 weeks to repair. I called on 5/6/17, because I had not heard from him. He was unable to find my machine, which was a bad sign. He eventually found it, and said that it was in bad shape, and would take at least another week to repair. I never heard from him, and I called again on 5/26/17. Every time I called, he was unable to find my machine. Finally, he said that he was still waiting on a part... I never heard from him, and called again on 6/27/17. There was no answer, and I left a message for him to call me, along with my phone number. He never responded. I called again on 7/27/17, and he told me that he couldn't fix my machine, and that he could either throw it away, or I could come and pick it up. However, he said that he was not feeling well, and had more repairs than he knew what to do with. He said that the machine was in pieces. I picked up the machine on 7/29/17 and dealt with the "Son". When I arrived, he tried to give me 2 other machines that he thought were mine. He finally found my machine in a closet, and gave it to me in pieces. (See picture below.) The only good thing I can say about my experience with the "Doctor and Son", is that they didn't charge me to ruin my machine. Now I have to try and find someone else to repair the mess that they created. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE, AND THEIR PROFESSIONALISM IS EVEN WORSE!!!

July 2016 I am extremely satisfied with the service I received. I dropped off my machine and received a phone call when the work was completed, which was within the time expectation set by his wife. He provided a few tips I need to incorporate with my machine quilting and he also repaired my walking foot, which about to fall apart, at no additional charge. I will definitely bring my machine to him when it needs its next tune up.

Overall I am extremely well pleased with the service I received and will definitely take my machine to him again.

The doctor serviced and my 1968 and 2005 Kenmore sewing machines. One is mechanical, and one computerized. They now work perfectly, and more smoothly than they have in years. He was patient and answered my questions and assured that every detail was correct. The time estimate given was one week, and I was thrilled to receive a call the very next day that the work was complete. The price was less than other stores in town quoted over the phone. I couldn't be happier, and will use this service again.

What he charges is excellent and he didn't take long. He really provided very good service and I was very happy with that. He told me if I had any problems to just let me know. Very informative, he told me to watch how I'm threading the machines and take my time. If one little thread is off, it can throw the entire thing off. He was very helpful.

This was the second time I have used this provider and previous services were very satisfactory and price was fair. However, this time my very old machine could not be repaired. He was very honest with me and had made every attempt to repair it before informing me of his inability to do so. There was no charge for the time he spent. The date of service is approximate, as I do not remember exactly the date that I had dropped off the machine.

It went fairly well. At first I was thrilled - he was $20 cheaper and 2.5 weeks quicker than another provider that I called. Then I picked my machine up and there was an unexpected charge for a part - he didn't call to tell me about it. Then I took my machine home and checked it (a 30 minute trip each way) and the stitch patterns were WAY off - i.e. wouldn't hold in stretch stitch. So, I took it back, he did the adjustments and it is fine.

It went great!! I dropped off the machine at his office/home one day and two days later it was ready to go. The machine works better than new and now I don't have to spend a lot of money to buy a new machine when the one I was given is now good as new!!

Couldn't have been a pleasanter experience. Worth the drive. Great person to do business with.

We set up an appointment to today at 10 am. He has not shown up or even communicated to let me know if he was going to make it or not. I then received a call from him on Saturday. He left (3) voicemails on a Saturday and one of them was very rude saying that I needed to wake up so he can drop off sewing machines, which we later found were actually for another customer. Then he made an appointment for Monday at 1pm and he was late getting here. He decided that he needed to take both machines to his business because he did not have the belt that he already knew the machine needed. The other machine only needed an adjustment/tune-up. There was no need for him to take them in, he could have just tuned up one of the machines and could have fixed the other on the spot if he had brought a belt. I asked that he at least take the trip charge off my bill, based on all the trouble and he refused to do so. Once I received the sewing machines, I found that they were not even repaired. He has not answered his phone since and the sewing machines are still not repaired. He refused to drop any charges for coming out and was very rude about it.

I did have to go quite a distance to find someone who repairs old machines, but thanks to Angie's List, was able to find the Sewing Machine Doctor. I dropped off the machine one day and it was ready the next. The gears were replaced and the machine was cleaned and oiled. It seemed a fair price for the job and was done quickly.

They do work and they're good people.

Terrific experience. I brought in an old sewing machine for repair. He quoted about $60 and told me it would be ready the next day. It was ready on time and for the exact amount we agreed to. He did a great job and really knows his stuff. If you need a sewing machine repaired, you can't do better than here. Thank you.

I brought the machine to Ted on a Saturday, and he had it repaired in a couple of days. He did a thorough job, bringing the machine back to full operating condition. He even crafted parts, as needed. I'd originally considered buying a new machine, but am so glad I didn't! Ted did an amazing job, and I feel as though I now have a new sewing machine.

It went very well. I was able to leave my machine for Ted to look at and repair. The repairs were done on time and on budget as agreed to at the beginning of the work.

I called the Sewing Machine Doctor as the other sewing machine repair company listed on Angies List only serviced one particular brand. I brought our Singer sewing machine by Ted's house. He told me it would be ready the next day with a total charge of $59.95 (it didn't need parts). I picked the sewing machine up as scheduled and it runs like new. If you have a sewing machine problem, call the Sewing Machine Doctor.

I contacted Mr. Gauvin because of his great reputation on Angie's List. My mom and I had been looking for a reliable sewing machine repairman for a long time. (We'd had several bad experiences with others.) Both my mom and I wanted our machines worked on; mine just needed cleaning, but Mom's was broken (bobbin problem). I arranged for Mr. Gauvin to work on the machines at my mom's place, so she could explain the problem to him and talk to him face to face. It cost a little more for a house call, but was worth it to avoid driving to his location a distance away. He easily cleaned and replaced a small broken part on my machine, and it runs well. My mom's machine had been so badly messed up by an earlier repairman that Mr. Gauvin couldn't really fix it. He did take it back to his shop for a couple of weeks and tried very hard. In the end, he delivered it back to Mom and showed how she could "get by" with the problem for small sewing jobs. He felt badly that he couldn't fix it like new.

I FOUND THE SEWING MACHINE DOCTOR AND SON ON ANGIE'S LIST. TED REPAIRED THE MACHINES SO WELL THEY ARE LIKE BRAND NEW. ON 6/26/07 I SPENT A HOUR AND HALF ON THE PHONE WITH THE SEWING MACHINE COMPANY AND THE OUTCOME WAS BUY ANOTHER NEW MACHINE. I GOT REALLY PEEVED AND JOINED ANGIE'S LIST WERE I FOUND THIS WONDERFUL MAN'S NAME AND ADDRESS. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM TO ALL.

Haven't used machine yet but work was performed promptly and charged as agreed upon.
