Organic Bouquet

I went online to order after comparing the prices for these organic daisies to the prices of non-organic daisies from other florists online. Surprisingly, the prices were about the same, and they donate 5% of the cost to the National Wildlife Federation, so I decided to go with Organic Bouquet. I added the daisies to my shopping basket, and when I did so, it said they would be shipped the next day (my wife's birthday) as I requested. However, after I entered my credit card information and submitted my order, I was dismayed to see that the receipt said they would ship the day AFTER my wife's birthday. I looked at the time, and apparently as soon as I placed my order at 3pm Eastern Time, the deadline for orders shipping the next day had passed. I wasn't warned of this strict deadline during the order process, so I attempted to call their 1-877 number to rectify the situation. When I called, I heard a recording saying that operators were busy, and I was given the option to leave a message. I tried to do so, but instead heard the answering machine say "please speak louder" repeatedly. By this time, I was on the edge of screaming, so I simply hung up. I immediately went online and responded to the receipt I was sent via email, and asked if the shipment could be expedited, since the receipt said it would ship a day later than when I requested. A bit later, I received an email from customer service stating that they couldn't ship the order faster, as the 3pm E.S.T. order cutoff time was strict. The customer service rep apologized and said they're working on making sure customers know about this in their next website meeting. He asked if I still wanted the flowers shipped a day late; I said I did because I didn't have a better option at the time. The rep's email was courteous, but he didn't offer any refund, a coupon, or anything else. Given the fact that I based my order largely on the fact that they could get the flowers to me on my wife's birthday, I was extremely disappointed when they didn't offer to refund shipping or any other reconciliation. They basically said, "Yeah, we know it's a problem and we're dealing with it. Sorry." As a first-time customer of this company, this was frustrating and does not leave a good impression. In the future, I'll most likely look elsewhere for organically grown or local flowers. When the flowers did arrive - late - my wife was impressed with them. They looked a lot better and lasted longer than non-organic daisies we bought at our local market. If I hadn't needed them in such a hurry, though, I don't think I could justify the price, which was nearly double the price of those at the market. I'm giving this company an overall C and not a lower grade because: 1) the website was easy to order from (besides the time issue), and 2) their product, once it arrived, was high-quality and earth-friendly. I'm giving them a D for responsiveness, since they didn't offer to resolve the shipping problem.
