DELAWARE ROOFING SVC

I discovered damaged drywall in my garage and traced it to a leak in my roof. I selected Delaware Roofing because it was a local company. Steve (the owner) came out and we agreed on a price and start date. This was done on a handshake. Steve performed the work and I paid him cash, again all good faith. Steve assured me repeatedly that he guaranteed his work and would come back if necessary. The catch with this type of repair is that you need to wait for inclement weather to occur in order to verify the efficacy of the repair. The next strong rain I discovered the leak was still present. Getting Steve to return was quite difficult and he was obviously avoiding me but he finally came out and did try to fix the leak. Unfortunately the second time was not the charm and the leak, although a little better, was still not repaired. After many many calls I finally managed to get hold of him; he was incredulous the roof could still be leaking and began to mention that he had already lost money on the job. I told him I understood but he did guarantee the work and if he could not fix the issue I would take my money back and hire someone else. I was even willing to let him keep a hundred or so for his efforts (more than fair, IMO). Steve promised to come out and I have not heard from or seen him since. Obviously I would not recommend him to anyone, he may be a decent roofer and my leak was unusually difficult, I don't know; but he certainly proved to be untruthful and untrustworthy and I still have a leaky roof.
