The Red Dog technician determined that my air conditioning was not working due to the refrigerant having leaked out. He then proceeded to recharge the system without providing an estimated cost for the recharging, attempting to find the leak or advising me of his intentions. He then presented me with a bill for $960.00 for the 8lbs of refrigerant that he installed. I would not have authorized that work had I been given a cost estimate and have had knowledge of what work he was performing. The system still has the leak and needs repaired and recharged again. Also, I priced the refrigerant on Ebay for $17lb that he charged me $120lb. My basis for a complaint is that he did the temporary repair without my permission and without my knowledge of the expected cost. I would have most certainly rather put the $960 toward a new system than recharge a system that is leaking given the choice. I was totally ripped off. He just wanted to get the most money he could as quick as he could without any regard for doing the right thing. He has absolutely no integrity in my opinion. Stay away.

"The refrigerant was re-charged as requested by the homeowner. I called to offer a replacement quote the next day and spoke to a lady in the home who was thankful you had AC as company was coming in for the weekend. R22 refrigerant is a product of the past and costly. Most companies charge well over $100 per pound to put it in. You can verify that anywhere. If you have us replace the system, I will help adjust the cost to help the bill. But to say you were overcharged when it needed over 8 lbs of refrigerant is not true."
