20/10?would recommend. Ziggy’s stands head and shoulders above the crowd. They are master craftsmen. The crew was friendly and very informative. Customer service responds quickly. They refinished almost my entire house. The floors were in shabby shape and look amazing now. Earlier I had hired someone from Angi’slist to repair a hole in the floor where a steel insert chimney had been. It looked like a kid did it. With Ziggy, you can’t even tell where the hole was. The whole experience was awesome. I’ll attach some pics. I love my floors now.

"We are delighted you are happy with your new floors. Thank you for the before and after pictures of the hole repair in the room with the blue wall! It was our pleasure to work with you."

We have a 30 year old house. The stairs were partially carpeted. When the 2nd floor carpet was replaced, we decided to remove the carpet on the stairs and refinish the stairs. The plan was to stain the treads and paint the risers. I contacted Ziggy for a quotation to fill the holes; and sand the stairs, landing and stain the treads.. He was able to provide a quotation via email.. Their price was comparable to others, but his company had great references. The two men arrived on time, we new this was a several day process. The workers showed up each day on time. They cleaned up their mess each day. We had clear instructions not to walk on the stairs once the work was started (it took a week). The guys did an outstanding job refinishing the treads and matching the stair to our existing floor. When they were done, they installed matching molding as necessary. The stairs look great! I highly recommend them.

I called Ziggy and got a very reasonable quote over the phone. I scheduled the work to be done on a day that was mutually agreeable. I had the floor boards to be installed already. Doug was the carpenter that sent to do the job. He called first to let me know what time he would arrive that day. He arrived with a helper. They completed the job quickly, neatly and the floor looks just like the adjacent existing boards. They did great work at a reasonable price and we great to work with. I would definitely use them again and for a larger project if needed.

Worked out in the end... our scheduled date to repair a small section of our hardwood floor was postponed twice. We weren't happy with the work initially done and Ziggy came out the same day to fix it for us. The final product looks good - it just took a while for everything to be completed.

I had to move out all furniture for a week so floors could be repaired and resurfaced. On returning home I was appalled at the dust that covered the blinds and drapes and window sills. Contractor claims the kitchen was sealed off, but I don't believe it. Thick dust covered everything and got into kitchen cabinets, appliances etc. I had to have cleaners in to tackle the worst of the dust and dirt. I myself am still cleaning four days after moving back with no end in sight. Workers left microwave food package laying in the filth on kitchen counters, masks and empty water bottles on window sills. I have three air conditioning wall units in my apartment and they were left running during the sanding, so I am still trying to clean them as they are clogged with dust.

Furthermore it is my personal opinion that the finished floors were not worth the disruption and cost to move out furniture and have to return to the mess that was left.

Note that the work itself was paid for by my condo association after water damage, so I do not know what the contractor charged for the work.

Response from ZIGGY'S INC WOOD FLOOR MECHANICS
"Ziggy’s Inc. was selected by the condo association to repair, sand and finish wood floors damaged from a water leak in six condominium units. We provided our Ziggy’s Inc. Process and Care Guide to the condo association which includes a section “Minimizing the Mess”. This clearly states that the homeowners must protect the rooms and adjoining rooms by emptying the rooms and covering items in adjoining rooms prior to the sanding process . It states ‘All curtains, blinds and wall hangings should be removed and stored elsewhere to keep them free of dust.” Ziggy also personally spoke to the homeowner to reinforce the importance of emptying rooms, including closets, preparing the work area and adjoining rooms and protecting belongings from dust. Our Guide also reinforces the need for proper temperature and adequate ventilation to ensure the finish dries promptly. We are very sorry that (Removed member name) did have or take the opportunity to read the guide in advance as he would have properly prepared his unit for the sanding and finishing process Our staff inadvertently left a water bottle , 2 clean dust masks and a lunch box on the job site. These were promptly removed when we were notified. Our staff was reminded to check for leaving things behind before coating the floors as they cannot walk across floor finish to retrieve items before leaving the job site. (Removed member name) DID NOT pay for the professional cleaning staff. This was paid by Ziggy’s Inc. due to his concerns with water bottles left behind and dust because he did not fully prepare for the work. (Removed member name) requested additional repairs to his floors which we were not able to accommodate as our scope of work was defined by our customer, the condo association and was limited to the damage caused by this most recent water leak. We are sorry our inability to address his request for additional work added to his displeasure with the sanding and finishing process. The condo association paid Ziggy's Inc. for the work properly completed in this unit. We have also completed several other units in this building and the condo association and the homeowners were satisfied with the repairs completed. This review in no way reflects the work of Ziggy’s Wood Floor Mechanics as evidenced by the numerous “A” ratings by other Angie's list members."

Ziggy's owner came in and provided us with an estimate for the job. Once he was hired, his workers were highly courteous and professional in their undertaking and completed each room and ensured that the rooms were clean of any dust or debris before they left. Originally, we were planning to stain the wood floor the same color they were previously. Instead, Ziggy suggested we go with a clear coat so that any scratches on the surface would not require a lot of work to touch up. Initially, I was a bit apprehensive but after the work was completed in one room, I was sold.

Overall the work was done in less than week and a half. This was within the original timeline provided in the estimate. I would highly recommend this provider as they are reasonable and do the work extremely well.

It was an oak hard wood floor. I was happy with them. They were on time, thorough and took time to explain. They cleaned up after themselves and did not leave a mess in the rest of the house. I have not had any issues with them. We choose them because the price was reasonable.

Ziggy came very highly recommended and he deserves it. Ziggy's crew did everything promised and did an amazing job. We are extremely pleased with the work. There were no surprises along the way. They stayed on target with each step of the project. Ziggy was always very responsive whenever we had any questions. If we ever need any more work related to our floors, we will definitely be hiring Ziggy again.

We wanted someone to spruce up our hardwood floors in our 108 yr old home we just purchased in Midtown Brandywine. I did my homework both online and in person by asking around and interviewing different flooring guys. I will say Ziggy was the one flooring guy who kept being mentioned both by Angie's users AND personal references (co-worker has his floors done less than 2 years ago by Ziggy). After doing my due diligence I met Ziggy for a free in-home consult and he measured the rooms while explaining what he saw and what our best course of action would be. I found him to be thorough, honest and best of all- reasonably priced! Within a few days he had a team here and they were both courteous, and prompt! The job took two days and soon after I got to see the result. WOW! The floors turned out beautifully, and I was ecstatic to see one of this homes best features be brought back to life. The satin finish that Ziggy recommended was perfect. Most all the Knicks, scratches and cosmetic damage had been addressed and there was zero flaws in any of the work. His team was thorough I'm cleaning up and leaving my home clean! I can't say enough great things about Ziggy! He's really the only guy I would trust to maintain such an important asset! Everyone who has seen the house since we called him has complimented our hardwoods and I've gladly passed his information to everyone from neighbors to the gentleman who came soon after to measure our stairs for runners were having put down (gotta protect those beauties from the dog)! If you need flooring done- CALL ZIGGY!

Pretty well.  They had problems doing the sanding, which extended the completion date.  The painter had to be rescheduled.  We just purchased the home and were getting new carpet, refinishing the floors and painting.

Ziggy was very responsive and timely in giving estimate and scheduling the repair.  He was also accommodating  my personal schedule to complete the job before my daughter's wedding. After the job completion, he was very responsive to any call to come back fixing any minor problems. The floor looks wonderfully and the house was sold to the second viewer after the repair and buyer told me that they were attracted to the brand new hardwood floor.

The last time he came we had water damage on the floor he had installed. He sent his men over and fixed it expertly (and it was covered by insurance). We would never have any floor work done by any other company.

First and foremost, the guys are very respectful and want the owners to be happy.  Jon, one of the crew leaders, is the nicest guy you will probably ever meet.  The only issue was we were trying to match the stain on the floor to an existing hallway the meets up, and when Jon laid the stain down it was WAY off.  Now, with that said, Jon and Ziggy MADE IT RIGHT!  They re-sanded the floors and came back on Sat and Sun to get the poly down so we could have the house back by Monday morning.  Very cool guys.  A little rough around the edges maybe, but GREAT price and they really do care if you are happy.  Would DEFINITELY use them again!!

Except for a couple of small stains that didn't come up, the floors turned out beautifully and the work was done over just a few days.
Ziggy was very thoughtful about warning us about fumes that might not be good for our dogs (and us). Because the work was done in February we weren't able to open windows to air it out. I would suggest having this work done in spring or fall so windows can be opened to help dry everything quickly. In our case, it took about ten days before the fumes dissipated. The workers were great, on time, professional. They covered doors and open areas to keep the fumes and dust at a minimum. We are very pleased with the result.

Ziggy (owner) was very responsive to my initial call for Job #1 (refnishing) -- he came out and looked at the floors and provided us with a good estimate (and options) regarding our current flooring (3/4" Oak).   He gave us good advice on how we could have taken better care of the flooring before I called him, and also how to take care of it after the refinishing job was done.   The actual work was performed by his team who arrived on time and on schedule and discussed with us the process and had us review the final stain color before they completed the existing flooring.   Prior to the visit we had to remove the furniture from the room, and of course the actual stain and polyurethane had to dry for a while so we had to avoid the areas for a few days while the work was in progress (and we had some smells, but the products they use keep this somewhat in check).
We were so happy with Job #1 that we quickly decided to go into Job #2 (adding additional hardwood to two adjacent rooms).   Once again Ziggy was responsive and gave a competitve estimate, and again his team did a great job -- on time and as expected.
Overall, Ziggy did a great job for us and we would recommend his company's services to others.  His team was very friendly and were responsive to questions from us as well as they confirmed with us during the various steps in the process.

CONSISTENTLY HIGH QUALITY WORK (VARIETY OF FRIENDS HAVE ALSO UTILIZED THIS CONTRACTOR). DIFFICULT TO GET IN TOUCH WITH SOMEONE. ALSO, ESTIMATE INDICATED JOB WOULD TAKE 4 DAYS, TURNED OUT TO BE 6-7 DAYS (WHICH WAS INCONVENIENT RELATIVE TO MAKING ALTERNATE LIVING ARRANGEMENTS).
