"We are delighted you are happy with your new floors. Thank you for the before and after pictures of the hole repair in the room with the blue wall! It was our pleasure to work with you."
I had to move out all furniture for a week so floors could be repaired and resurfaced. On returning home I was appalled at the dust that covered the blinds and drapes and window sills. Contractor claims the kitchen was sealed off, but I don't believe it. Thick dust covered everything and got into kitchen cabinets, appliances etc. I had to have cleaners in to tackle the worst of the dust and dirt. I myself am still cleaning four days after moving back with no end in sight. Workers left microwave food package laying in the filth on kitchen counters, masks and empty water bottles on window sills. I have three air conditioning wall units in my apartment and they were left running during the sanding, so I am still trying to clean them as they are clogged with dust.
Furthermore it is my personal opinion that the finished floors were not worth the disruption and cost to move out furniture and have to return to the mess that was left.
Note that the work itself was paid for by my condo association after water damage, so I do not know what the contractor charged for the work.
"Ziggy’s Inc. was selected by the condo association to repair, sand and finish wood floors damaged from a water leak in six condominium units. We provided our Ziggy’s Inc. Process and Care Guide to the condo association which includes a section “Minimizing the Mess”. This clearly states that the homeowners must protect the rooms and adjoining rooms by emptying the rooms and covering items in adjoining rooms prior to the sanding process . It states ‘All curtains, blinds and wall hangings should be removed and stored elsewhere to keep them free of dust.” Ziggy also personally spoke to the homeowner to reinforce the importance of emptying rooms, including closets, preparing the work area and adjoining rooms and protecting belongings from dust. Our Guide also reinforces the need for proper temperature and adequate ventilation to ensure the finish dries promptly. We are very sorry that (Removed member name) did have or take the opportunity to read the guide in advance as he would have properly prepared his unit for the sanding and finishing process Our staff inadvertently left a water bottle , 2 clean dust masks and a lunch box on the job site. These were promptly removed when we were notified. Our staff was reminded to check for leaving things behind before coating the floors as they cannot walk across floor finish to retrieve items before leaving the job site. (Removed member name) DID NOT pay for the professional cleaning staff. This was paid by Ziggy’s Inc. due to his concerns with water bottles left behind and dust because he did not fully prepare for the work. (Removed member name) requested additional repairs to his floors which we were not able to accommodate as our scope of work was defined by our customer, the condo association and was limited to the damage caused by this most recent water leak. We are sorry our inability to address his request for additional work added to his displeasure with the sanding and finishing process. The condo association paid Ziggy's Inc. for the work properly completed in this unit. We have also completed several other units in this building and the condo association and the homeowners were satisfied with the repairs completed. This review in no way reflects the work of Ziggy’s Wood Floor Mechanics as evidenced by the numerous “A” ratings by other Angie's list members."
Ziggy's owner came in and provided us with an estimate for the job. Once he was hired, his workers were highly courteous and professional in their undertaking and completed each room and ensured that the rooms were clean of any dust or debris before they left. Originally, we were planning to stain the wood floor the same color they were previously. Instead, Ziggy suggested we go with a clear coat so that any scratches on the surface would not require a lot of work to touch up. Initially, I was a bit apprehensive but after the work was completed in one room, I was sold.
Overall the work was done in less than week and a half. This was within the original timeline provided in the estimate. I would highly recommend this provider as they are reasonable and do the work extremely well.
Pretty well. They had problems doing the sanding, which extended the completion date. The painter had to be rescheduled. We just purchased the home and were getting new carpet, refinishing the floors and painting.
Ziggy was very thoughtful about warning us about fumes that might not be good for our dogs (and us). Because the work was done in February we weren't able to open windows to air it out. I would suggest having this work done in spring or fall so windows can be opened to help dry everything quickly. In our case, it took about ten days before the fumes dissipated. The workers were great, on time, professional. They covered doors and open areas to keep the fumes and dust at a minimum. We are very pleased with the result.
We were so happy with Job #1 that we quickly decided to go into Job #2 (adding additional hardwood to two adjacent rooms). Once again Ziggy was responsive and gave a competitve estimate, and again his team did a great job -- on time and as expected.
Overall, Ziggy did a great job for us and we would recommend his company's services to others. His team was very friendly and were responsive to questions from us as well as they confirmed with us during the various steps in the process.
