I called Monro (from a family recommendation) and they told me I could bring it in that morning and have it done by the end of the day. The gentleman behind the counter was professional, yet a little abrupt, but the atmosphere of the place was and quot;we'll get your car fixedand quot;, not and quot;we're going to be super nice to you.and quot; I personally do not mind that at all. I had to drop the car off, so they said they would call me when it was finished.
About an hour or so later, they called me, and told me that because of the kind of car I had, they couldn't just replace the turn signal bulb. They would have to replace the entire headlight assemble. He explained to me over the phone that he could get one ordered for me, and it's possible they could receive it, and replace it by the end of the day. I said I had to think about it (since I never heard of such a thing) and went in to pick up my car.
When I got there, the guy explained in greater detail about exactly what was going on with the lights. He told me all about how all the lights are tied in together, and you can't just replace a bulb. He said he's never come across a car like that before. He recommended that I call up some junk yards and see if I could by my own assemble and bring it in to Monro for replacement (at about a third of the cost). I thanked him for his time and left.
I couldn't believe that I couldn't have a bulb replaced, so, after checking my owner's manual to see that it had instructions for replacing bulbs, I took it to another place for another opinion. They fixed it, for $15, and never said a word about replacing the entire assemble.
They guy at Monro was trying to be helpful, but I can't trust my car to a place who, in my opinion, is either trying to rip people off, or doesn't know enough to change a simple bulb.
