Stay far away from this company unless you like being cold in the winter and hot in the summer. They do not honor their contracts and sell substandard equipment. I am interested in a class action suit so anyone else out there, and I know there are others, please contact me.

I have been a long time customer with gold star and recently their quality and service is completely unprofessional and unreliable. I scheduled my tuneup for the summer back in April 2022. They scheduled me for end of May 2022. They didn’t show up at my house or contact me on the day of my service After waiting nearly 8 weeks for them to come do a routine maintenance before the heatwave, they just no showed. I called and rescheduled for May 31. I got a text at 8 AM in the morning canceling my service for the day. When I called to reschedule they said their first availability was in mid August 2022. I had two confirmed appointments that they canceled. I asked how I could go from a scheduled appointment on May 31 which they cancelled and my next availability is mid August? They said that’s what the system says…the Dispatcher was zero help. Now my unit has become an emergency. The company will just cancel your appointment with little regard to your needs or time. They cancel and throw you out of the queue and then you have to call back and start all over again. I have two complete units in my house I bought from Gold star I religiously have been getting them maintained 2x per year, but now I’m hugely disappointed with Gold Star. I would recommend avoiding gold star and build your relationship with a more reliable and trustworthy company.

I contacted Gold Star to obtain an estimate for replacement of my furnace and air conditioner. Gold Star had been performing routine maintenance on my old HVAC system for several years. The estimation team visited my house and obtained measurements for sizing. They gave me a price estimate for a replacement system during the same visit. The cost of the estimate was much higher than those I received from other companies, although Gold Star did quote for a top of the line system that required a new water heater as well (this is what they were recommending). The estimation team answered all my questions, but I was disappointed that they were trying to get me to commit to buying an expensive system the same day without a formal written proposal detailing what I would get. Unlike my experience with other companies estimating this job, no written proposal was ever provided by Gold Star. Ultimately, I decided not to use Gold Star for the work.

Everything went as expected. Initially worked with Tony to get initial quote. After receiving several quotes we decided on Gold Star. Tony got us started and also worked to initiate the Energize Delaware process to receive rebates on the equipment we were installing. Everything was installed on time. Technician did have to work through an issue installing the humidifier as it was a tight fit but he came up with a creative solution and everything is working great. We were so satisfied with their service we contracted their sister company Delaware Plumbing Professionals to install a high efficiency water heater.

The workers arrived on time and were very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. The additional duct work was done very well, and everything was kept clean. During the energy audit they replaced almost all of the light bulbs in our home for free. I highly recommend using this company for any of your HVAC needs.

We had a new upgraded HVAC system installed inside & out. An Energy Efficient Audit was suggested to received a $2,000 refund. Gold Star initiated and it was well worth having the inspection. The $2,000 rebate made their pricing with the upgrade unit a great deal.

They were punctual and extremely professional throughout the entire process. it started with the Salesman (Tony) who explained in great detail my options, costs involved and what the process would entail. The three man crew of installers (Chris, Bob and Trevor) were polite and very respectful of their surroundings. They were meticulous with the clean up and I would not hesitate to use them again.

So I called Gold Star because, after installing a new Nest thermostat on our system and running the AC fine for weeks, when it came time for heat I couldn't get any. I thought there may be something wrong with the furnace so best to have a pro look at it. I called around 11 and was told the earliest someone could come was between 3-6, which was fine with me (I was expecting to hear next week). Then I got a call at 1:30 that they could actually come early (seriously when does that happen?) which was even better! Turns out a wire had come disconnected so the furnace wasn't getting the signal from the thermostat to turn on... but we also hadn't had the system serviced in 3 years. Aaron pointed out if we signed up for the bi-annual service plan he could do a system service and waive the fee for coming out for basically nothing. That worked for us since we definitely needed the system serviced and it was going to be the same cost. Definitely appreciated that.

The service tech, Aaron, arrived 3 hours early and immediately went to work resolving the problem. He found and replaced the bad part, a capacitor, within a few minutes. The entire repair process was completed in less than 30 minutes. They were extremely professional and I would definitely use them again.

I really can't say enough good things about them. Jeff came to my home for the initial consultation and took me through everything. He said it was one price, no extra costs. He told me exactly what I was getting with the price. We scheduled an install by the end of the week. Bob and his crew did a great job with the install. They even replaced my gas water heater flue vent. It had seen much better days, and I didn't even have to ask. They go the extra mile. The best part is the warranty, 10 year parts AND LABOR. This is what sets them apart from the competition. He even gave me an extra year of maintenance because I declined to take the thermostat since I had one already. The furnace and AC work great. I can definitely tell the difference. The old unit never did heat or cool the upstairs very effectively, and this new system does very well. I would highly recommend Gold Star.

TL/DR; On time, very knowledgeable service tech quickly, efficiently repaired unit and went above and beyond normal duties. Highly recommend. I called the Saturday of Memorial day weekend and was able to set up an appointment the very next day. Service technician arrived in the quoted time window, was already aware of the issue as explained to the operator, and he got right to work. He quickly identified the issue and repaired it. He had to make some small bracket modifications in order to make the capacitor fit properly, but was done in no time. He even made a few recommendations to make the unit operate more efficiently (remove some tree limbs in the area blocking air flow). When the breakers were tripped back on to check the system was working it turned out the thermostat breaker was no longer working. He did a few checks to ensure the problem was not with the heat pump. While we were turning on/off various breakers he measured voltage fluctuations coming to the HVAC unit and heard crackling coming from the breaker panel. Unfortunately, Gold Star does not do panel work, but I appreciate his recommendation of replacing the breakers to both protect the equipment and avoid a fire. I had the breakers replaced the next day and the unit worked perfectly. He left contact info in the case the equipment did not work after the breaker was replaced and I'm confident any problems would have been fixed promptly, but there were none! Only down side was $590 seemed a little high from prices I could find online, but they did come out Sunday of Memorial day weekend so I can't complain to much.

Just fantastic experience. Found Gold Star on Angie's list after looking for local, family-owned business. I guess without the overhead of Horizon, they can offer quality unit and installation and warranty for half the price--half, you read that right people. Everyone I dealt with was courteous and knowledgeable. I am very happy with my experience. Recommended them to a neighbor who also is over the moon for Gold Star AC. And it turns out that my realtor also recommends them over the big names. Call Gold Star!

I highly recommend Gold Star. We knew we needed a new heater and started the process. I had seen the advertisements for Gold Star and their $6790 package. I was skeptical knowing you get what you pay for but I saw the positive reviews and I like that they are a small local business. After our first quote being outrageous, I called them for an estimate. To compare, our current service provider quoted $16K, brought down to $14,890 with multiple coupons, multiple texts to the manager, upfront signature, and agreeing to a day where they needed work for their crew. They did not offer to reuse any of our existing upgrades. I was expecting a cost of $10-12K, possibly $13, but not $16!!! For that price we would have gone for geothermal! Enter Gold Star: The experience was exceptional. Tony examined the system and toured the house. He immediately noticed all the things I felt were done incorrectly with the previous install and told me how they would be addressed. I mentioned my concerns and he addressed each one informing me of the different options available. There was no "big book" presentation for an hour. No up-selling, no bad mouthing of other companies, and no scare tactics.There was no mention of install dates until I brought them up. He informed me that there was no need to purchase any upgrades bc what we had could be removed from the old system and installed in the new one. Others did not share that offer. When it was time for a quote, he wrote it out on the contract form, but did not ask for a signature. He said he would return if we decided to go with Gold Star. I was shocked at the low quote! I asked many questions about the employees (not subcontractors) who would be doing the install and why they were coming in so low. I felt he was very transparent and I appreciated his business model. I completed my research after he left and quickly made my decision to have Tony come back. The crew was out the next morning on time. They were professional and knowledgeable. They were happy to show me how things worked and watch them put it together. You could see they enjoyed what they were doing. Thank you for the wonderful service, both the sales and install.

Replaced Gas furnace with a Trane XV95 and replaced AC with a Trane XR14. Incorporated previous upgrades (UV light, electromagnetic filter, whole house humidifier) into new install. Replaced solenoid valve on the old humidifier. New wifi thermostat with no monthly fees associated with it.
