I've used Delaware Tire Center since 1972, when I first moved here. They've done countless jobs on many different cars I've owned and I have never had a problem. The company is owned by the Baxter family and they've always been straightforward and honest with me. On more than one occasion they told me I didn't really need a change or repair that I actually asked for, which saved me quite a bit of money over the years. Conversely, they've cautioned me about items (such as a timing chain) that was about to go on my car. Sure enough-after about 2 months, the timing chain broke about 30 miles from home. Asked how they knew the timing chain was about to go, they said that my particular model of car typically had about 88,000 miles before the timing chain typically broke, and I was already almost to 90,000 miles.

Unprofessional person answered phone seemed bother by my questions and rushed me off the phone.

It was a good experience. It was a fairly quick service, only about an hour and a half. They put on the new tires that I purchased.

Their diagnosis was that I had gone in and wiped the grease off the brake pads. For those of you who don't know, that requires disassembling everything. In essence, they said I sabotaged my own brakes. Then they said there was nothing wrong with the rear brakes. It was the front brakes. We had redone the front brake ourselves about 6 months before. I was told the calipers were jammed closed on one of the front rotors. The could not spin one of the front wheels. I needed a $550 job to re-do of the front brakes. When I told my boyfriend, he said I must have misunderstood. He called and they treated him like an idiot, too. When he pointed out the wear on the rotors, they said it was a two-tone rotor (this is the flat braking-surface, not some cool-looking paint scheme). When he suggested the mechanic could have forgotten to put grease on the brake pad, he was told Bill remembers doing it and furthermore Bill never makes mistakes. So I called back and said don't do anything. They tried terror tactics. The car was dangerous. It should not be driven at all. When I went to pick up the car I expressed displeasure at being called an liar and explained I knew no one had wiped the grease off the brake pad. And why would any do that?. I was told their mechanic never makes mistakes. The manager Matt, who had been there forever and I have dealt with countless times, just looked over without interest. When I got the car home, we immediately took each wheel off to inspect the brakes. The left rear, which was the one that had been squeaking, came off easily. The mechanic must have disassembled it and put grease on the brake pad. They had not inspected the the right rear; we had to pry the wheel off the rotor assembly. The front brakes were fine. They spun easily. We tested the caliper and they worked fine. Delaware Tire Center tried to snooker me into spending $550 for a job I did not need using fear tactics and flat-out lying.

After meeting Matt Baxter at the Delaware Tire Center, I knew I met the right person, at the right place, at the right time. Matt is a super nice guy that was very friendly and quite knowledgeable with his facts regarding tires here at Delaware Tire Center. Matt went above and beyond his duty to assist me to get the proper tires for my vehicle, at the best price around. He even called the Michelin Tire plant to see if my tires were covered under manufacturer defect. I would not have known anything regarding the coverage that was available to me, and they were covered under a manufacturer’s defect. Matt was able to get me my tires at the lowest costs possible in this tri-state area. I am from downtown Philadelphia and drove about an hour to come to this particular tire center for my Pax system tires. I felt very comfortable and trust that I am in good hands with caring, committed people who work at this facility.

I also asked to have the rear brakes checked for uneven wear. After getting my car inspected the day before, it was recommended that I should get new brake pads placed on the right rear wheel for safety concerns. One rear brake pad was severely and unnaturally worn down as opposed to the other rear brake pad. Matt did so without hesitation and was not even going to charge me for the inspection.

Without a doubt, I would highly recommend going a little out of your way to get tires from this center.
