Workers arrived on time, worked diligently the entire day, cleaned up after work completed. I never realized how much old insulation was in each crawlspace - trash bags filled half of the area inside their large box truck. Very happy with results. Thanks Energy Services Group

They arrived on time and everything went very very well. They were professional, knowledgeable, kept me informed as to what was going on at all times. They were very informative about the process and my bills have now decreased by at least 10% and the comfort in my house has considerably improved (I can now sleep comfortably upstairs and in my own bed)! I would highly recommend their services to others.

My home's electric bills were through the roof. They came and did an energy analysis then installed insulation. I would use them again and recommend them. They were really professional and nice in dealing with my wife. I have been able to contact them since for advice.

It went really well. The pricing was good. The energy audit was fascinating and I learned a lot. The crew was clean, responsive, and let me know what was going on. They were really good. They also did the job when they said they would. The reason I did it was because I wanted to feel more comfortable in my house, I have been tracking my daily usage for electricity and ever since they came in my daily usage is down about 15% and I am very comfortable, so my goal was achieved.

We explained that we wanted the rear, second-story "bump-out" on our South Philly rowhouse insulated so that it is warm in the winter and cool in the summer, consistent with the rest of the house. The salesman listened, walked through the house with us, answered questions, and was very helpful in defining the scope of work. His suggestion to perform electrical work first was helpful. They were patient while we had the electrical work done before inviting ESG to do the insulation. The ESG workers were courteous and conducted the work in a timely fashion. At the end of the project, I could use the room in the "bump out" without a space heater, essentially allowing us to add another room to regular use. The attic access panel is also great. It is framed out decently, and is also insulated, so it doesn't leak heat/cool air to the attic. Their blower test revealed a much better result than even they had anticipated, cutting down our air leakage by about 20%. I don't think our utility bills are necessarily less, because the thermostat is on the first floor. However, the second story is much more comfortable.

The cost was $4,200 and I am going to get a $2,000 rebate. Everything went fine and we used them because one of my relatives has already used them to have their house done. So, we knew they were good. I also recommend them to people if they need them to come out and do their house.

They came to the house on time, extremely courteous, and cleaned as they went.  The team walked me through everything they did for the day making me understand all of the nuances of the job so I felt very comfortable in the work they performed and the future value based on the energy audit they performed.  There was a need for a follow-up visit and they worked very hard around my schedule to come to fix an unexpected result of vibrations knocking nails through a room ceiling.  They came an fixed the ceiling with no issues and it looks great.  I would highly recommend this group to anyone looking to increase the energy efficiency.

Energy Services Group did a great job. Their promptness leaves a lot to be desired. They said they were going to be here in two days. When the workers came, they didn't finish their job and didn't let their supervisors know. I called them and told them it wasn't done. It was definitely a screw-up. But they did a good job. They did an outstanding job. It took them two months to get here.

It went very well. They did everything they said they were going to do and we were very happy in every way. Everybody was very careful and clean. They went through a lot of trouble to make sure that they would not cause a disaster in the house. It just went perfectly. The price certainly didn't shock me, which was a really good start. I just wanted somebody who was not going to screw it up.

James came for the energy audit and spent at least 3 hours going over my house more thoroughly then even I ever have.  He found things that I hadn't seen before and did a very professional job with his reporting and explaining how we could optimize our energy consumption in the house.  He was on-time, very polite and professional.
I decided to hire them to come back and correct many of the issues James had discovered during his visit.  At first I thought the pricing was a bit high, but went ahead and hired them.  The crew came to my house yesterday morning, showed up on time at 8:30am, and the three guys worked HARD all day yesterday until 5pm completing the work.  I had no idea how much effort went into what they do.  They were also very polite, professional, and took precautions to keep my house clean by putting down covers over all the areas they worked.  They did blower door testing before and after the job and found they had decreased air penetration by 25%.  They added about 9 inches of blown insulation and sealed my HVAC duct work as well.  I could feel a difference in the heat in the house as soon as they left.
I would highly recommend them to anyone.  Looking back at what they did and how much effort it took to do it, I feel their pricing was right on and very reasonable.  I'm hoping to recoup the entire cost within 2 - 3 years of heating and cooling savings.

Energy Services Group showed up on time and did air sealing with steel guns of varying lengths that let them get to nearly every gap and crack in my home. They also blew cellulose insulation in my attic. My MBR was always cold in winter, and it has been transformed. After the first night, we permanently removed the extra quilt we have always needed over winters.

Of the four firms I contacted to get quotes for this work ESG provided the most detailed statement of work in two pages detailing exactly what they were going to do. While I was at first concerned that most firms including ESG bidding on the work did so without a home visit (working instead from the energy audit alone) multiple conversations over email with the ESG project manager James Otterbacher gave me a good feeling they understood my home and the issues that needed to be resolved.

They were not the lowest bidder for the work (not the highest either actually), however if I had gone with the lowest bidder I would not have been able to receive the rebates currently offered by the Maryland Energy Administration and Pepco as they require only an approved contractor be selected to perform the work. Also I was very impressed at this contractor's overall knowledge of air sealing and not just insulation as well as their familiarity with the process of applying for the MEA and Pepco rebates.

They showed up on time, covered their shoes whenever they were walking around my house, and laid down significant plastic sheeting to protect my floors. They were very knowledgeable about the effects of their work on my home's building envelope and comfort. They were very willing to show me what they were doing all through the day long process and answer any other questions I had. I really appreciated the fact that they tested the air sealing of my house (blower door test with what looked to be an industrial strength blower door) before and after the work was completed so I could see actual reduction in air leakage they achieved (36%!) .

Its been a week now and the house feels much more comfortable even in the 100 degree heat we've been experiencing outside. The cost I listed above is before the rebates which may reduce the cost of the work by as much as 50%.

I requested an estimate from this company based on a recommendation by an (independent) energy audit company. ESG is based in Delaware but also has an office in Glen Burnie. An appointment was set up for April 15. The ESG person who provided the estimate was courteous, knowledgeable, and punctual. There was no pressure to go with his company. The proposal was extremely detailed. I had a second estimate done by another company, which was slightly lower in cost but that proposal was very sketchy on details and I didn't feel I could trust the second company. So I indicated to ESG via email that I was interested in having them do the work; immediately the ESG rep suggested setting up a date and we scheduled the work for June 27. On the appointed day the crew (about 5 guys?) showed up around 8:15am. The original rep was present and stayed much of the day; when he left he let me know he was handing off responsibility so I was aware of what was going on. First thing they did was a blower-door test, to set the baseline against which they could measure improvements after the work was complete. I must say that the crew worked hard throughout the entire day until about 5:45 pm. ?At one point I could hear insulation blowing down into the tops of the ceilings on the first floor. Included in the job proposal was cutting holes in the drywall in my upstairs room (the house is a Cape Cod) to provide access to the attic. Per the agreement, they taped and spackled (1 coat) the wall, which was done quite tidily. They cleaned up behind themselves very nicely; the only way I knew they had been in my house was a light layer of spackling dust which formed over the next few hours, from the wall repair. They completed everything that had been written in the proposal, and at the end conducted a final walk-through to explain to me how each individual item had been done. I did not go up into the attic, but did view the results from the access panels, and had been in the house all day so I knew what was going on during each phase. Throughout the day they provided me with periodic updates on their progress. As a final step they performed a second blower-door test, which indicated substantial improvements (50% reduction in air flow); this exceeded expectations (proposal offered 20%). I haven?t yet received the final report but expect it in the coming days. The BIG deal for me was the eligibility for MD state and BGE rebates, which could reduce my cost by as much as 50%. Overall this was a very positive experience and I would absolutely recommend this company to anyone wanting air sealing/insulation work. My only comment is that I would have liked to have received an appointment confirmation from the main office a week or so prior to the work date.

The job went in steps and stutters. They came in and I wasn't happy with the job so they were very responsive to the issues. They came right out and looked at it. They really went above and beyond to fix the problems and even did addition insulation work, they added more insulation. They made sure I was happy with the job. They really did a good job.
