Our (12-year old) car was stalling out, and it needed a tune up.  As usual, Rich went over the car with a fine-tooth comb.  He capped off the AC, which wasn't cooling as well as it should.  He replaced the mass air flow sensor.  We immediately noticed a couple-mpg increase in gas mileage - a welcome improvement on a gas guzzling mid-size SUV.  The car purrs  like it should, now.  Thanks, Rich!  We're so grateful to have you as our mechanic.  We appreciate your honesty, reasonable prices, professionalism, and responsiveness to issues.  He has recommended the timing belt be replaced (it's at 140K miles and should have been replaced at 90K) each time we've had the car in, but has never been pushy about it.  After researching the car's repair history (we've only owned it for a year), we're getting that done tomorrow.
We've known Rich for a number of years, even before we knew he owned a mechanic shop.  He's a good friend, and we appreciate having a reliable mechanic we can trust.  We've thoroughly appreciated his efforts to keep our aging, dying cars (18+ years old with upwards of 200K miles) running as well as they could the past few years.  He has always been prompt with service, and helped us understand the issue and our options for repair.  His prices are competitive but reasonable.  Now that we have newer cars we see Rich less but still appreciate his continued quality work, fair prices, and prompt service.  Rich's approach takes the edge off an otherwise unpleasant part of life (I hate having to go to the dentist and take my car into the shop) and relieves what for me is normally a stressful experience.  We are glad we can support this locally owned family business.
