Jack Donovan Plumbing Heating & AC

In Nov 2012 technician verbally quoted $100 for a new motor and $80 to install it (no written quote was offered by the tech and I did not ask for one). He installed the new motor, did a good job and fixed the problem (again no paperwork was offered at the end of the job, I asked for it and was told they would send a bill). In Jan 2013 I received a $530 bill for the work, this included labor charges for the first visit to troubleshoot and the second visit to install the motor. The initial visit the tech was only onsite for 45 min but I was charged for 1.5 hr of labor. The motor that I was verbally quoted $100 for numerous times is now $289 and the $80 to install the motor is actually $80 an hour. I call Mr Donovan on Jan 23, 2013 to dispute the bill, he quickly stated the bill was correct. He then stated the tech was not authorized to quote prices (that did not make any sense). In the end Mr. Donovan finally agreed to speak to the tech to see what he did or did not say and call me back. Mr Donovan never called back, on Feb 24, 2013 I wrote a letter to Mr Donovan explaining the issues again and I paid $301 of the $530 bill feeling that was fair based on the time the tech was onsite, what I was quoted for the part and labor to install it. I never heard back from Mr Donovan so I assumed the issue was resolved and never received another statement until Oct 13, 2016 (yes 2016) almost 4 years after the work was completed I receive a statement for $229. I will never do business with Jack Donovan again

He came out and did an estimate. Then a few months went by. He must've lost the estimate, because he had to come back and do it again. He does not seem to have any administrative help. I had to press to get the job started. His guy installed the wrong toilet. The work was OK. Had to return several times because of issues. He balked at fixing the drain, and his guy came on his own time and did it anyway, even though we repeatedly reminded him of this issue. My major complaint was he did not seem to value me as a customer - he repeatedly said, when he was at my house or on the phone, that he needed to get to another job or provide a quote to another customer. I finally said, "But I am your customer right now." I was never thanked for my business.

First of all Jack called me promptly when I left a message. Sent someone out as soon as he could. Technician was prompt, professional and polite. Fixed unit quickly. Told me exactly what was wrong. Jack is honest and reasonable in pricing. Give his company 5 stars! Woul definitely use again!!!

The associate also looked at my newly installed (by someone else) hot water hearted and dishwasher. He tweaked a few things and left. All in all, it was a pleasant experience and plan on calling them back in the future. I cannot comment on the financials yet, as the employees said we would be billed. Crossing my fingers that this is not a huge disappointment when the bill comes in.

Jack is great. I called and he came within the hour. Price was excellent especially for last minute and the weekend!

I left a message and he returned my call and said that he would call be back about scheduling but I haven't heard back from him. They were too slow and I need to get this job done, so I will keep looking.

They were very efficient and the plumber knew what he was doing. He has a good reputation in town and we were recommended to him by our neighbors. I would recommend him to others now.

I have been with him for 8 years and have always been pleased with his service. He comes when I need him. I have been told his price is pretty comparable with other plumbers. He always works with me on the payments also.

Paul the plumber came in time and completed the job in 8 hours instead of 2 days, saving us money. He accidentally damaged the shower, reported it to Jack, showed it to us and was willing to pay for repair. Good job anyway. Not excellent, but good.
