Derek came to the house and went into the crawl space. He was so friendly and funny. We felt so good having him in and around our home. After the inspection he was able to show us pictures of the crawl space, so we didn't have to get down there with him. He even showed us a video of our floor joist that were falling apart. We were able to see the mold and the wood rot. He explained that the mold is from the moisture and that air could be coming up into our home. My husband has had some serious allergy issues and now we know why. The mold under our home was invading our air in our home.
He gave us suggestions on what we can do. We never felt pressured to do anything. We were able to talk about the options and what we wanted to do. We checked with a few other companies in the area, but none of them could provide us with the information that DryZone gave us. We felt comfortable going with them because they sounded knowledgeable and experienced. We got back in touch with Derek a few days later and decided to go through with the encapsulation.
When the crew arrived, Mario greeted us with a smile and just like with the initial inspection, we felt great having these guys around our home. They cleaned our the old debris, installed the insulation, and the clean lining. After the work was complete they showed us pictures of the crawl space. It was BEAUTIFUL! I couldn't believe that it could look that amazing.
In October, we had a Nor'easter that caused flooding to our area and came right up to the house. After the storm I sent my husband down to the crawl space to check on things. To my disbelief it was completely dry. I couldn't believe it. This is what solidified it for me. This company promised me my crawl space would be dry and that is what they delivered. They saved my home. I am so thankful we spent the money and took care of our home. I am so happy.
About a 1000 sq ft crawlspace was encapsulated and a dehumidifier was installed. DryZone arrived as scheduled and finished as planned. There were no problems. Since this is a summer home, I am unable to make further comments until such time that I return to this home.
DryZone made the best presentation and submitted the best proposal. Their price was the highest. That is why I gave them an overall "B".
"This letter is in response to the grade we received on Angie List in August 2013 by [member name removed]. On March 12, 2007, DryZone was contacted to inspect and quote [member name removed] crawlspace. I, Bill Anderson, inspected the homeowner's crawlspace and informed him of the necessary steps to correct the homeowner's concerns of moisture and odor. [member name removed] signed a contract for work suggested and made a deposit. [member name removed] was happy with installation and paid remaining balance on May 8th, 2007. [member name removed] called on August 23rd 2010 informing us his sump pump alarm was going off. Our service technician inspected and took pictures. He suggested a remote alarm and explained several issues causing water and odor that was out of our scope of work. There was a 2” pipe which was not extended through the wall for the HVAC line causing water to spill into the crawlspace. Our service technician also suggested a door to the entrance and a well drain. Our service technician installed a new remote and placed a bucket at the door to catch the water. Homeowner agreed, signed contract, and paid for service at that time. August 21st, 2012 a reactive appointment to replace the filter in the dehumidifier and homeowner paid for service. September 18th, 2012 homeowner calls in to let us know there is a bad smell coming through the vents. We sent our design specialist who suggested a new SaniDry air system and engaged in a service contract. Customer obliged. On October 4th, 2012 homeowner still has a foul smell. We proposed an entrance drain and EverLast door. Customer agreed and signed contract. We installed on October 25th, 2012. The homeowner calls on November 2nd, 2012 needing entrance cleaning. We inspected on November 19th, 2012 and found the well dry with a few leaves. We removed leaves and suggested a grate to cover. [member name removed] called again on June 11th, 2013 and still seems to be having a musty smell. We went out on June 12th 2013 and changed filter, sprayed shock to treat for any possible microbial growth, and found the wooden cover was rotten and was trapping smell. Suggested removing the insulation, fog the entire area and add a lid for the large well. Customer wrote letter explaining situation with the smell which we received on July 11th, 2013. An appointment was set up for Bill to inspect situation on July 25th, 2013 and the homeowner called to cancel. We have suggested several items over the course of the years and pointed out areas of concern to the homeowner who waited to the last minute to follow our professional advice. In our contract it states customer is to contact us within 24 hours with any concerns of their system. Service is required every year. DryZone has gone above and beyond trying to help this customer correct the issues and have responded to all of his requests quickly and efficiently. We have always taken care of our homeowners from the minute we started our company and will continue to do so. We cannot however allow a negative mark on our business when a customer decides to not take our advice and have work corrected that is not in our scope. I am shocked and appalled that Angie's List is so quick to judge and label us with a negative review without hearing both sides of the situation. I have a very large file that documents we were very responsive to this customer's needs and suggested these issues be corrected early on. I still would love to help this customer and protect his investment."
"Thank you for the feedback! The FlexiSpan® is a fantastic product. We are glad that you are so happy with it."
There was only one other company which even offered a comparable solution and they were not only $5K more expensive, but we didn't feel their solution was as thorough. And when asked about fixing tears in their liner, we were told we'd be given a roll of tape to apply.
As another reviewer said, this isn't cheap, but it's most definitely worth it to protect your home or investment property.
"Thank you so much for the review. We are glad that you had such a positive experience. I just looked at the project photos and there certainly was quite a big difference in the conditions. We all hope that you enjoy years of better air quality from your encapsulated crawl space."
"Thank you for the comments. We believe that there is a lot of value in the products and services that we offer. For instance, the vapor barrier we use carries a 25 year nationally backed warranty. When you take into account that "cheaper" systems will need repairs and won't last as long, the value really starts to show."
