This is an update to my first review of Georgetown Animal Hospital specifically Dr. John Goss. As I stated in my 1st review, in February of 2014 we brought home two 12 week old Havanese Puppies and needed to find a vet. The breeders used them so we thought it would make sense to follow their lead. We have been there a total of 3 times so far-1st time to address a large lump on the side of the smaller dog which turned out to be a shot given into the neck area that went under the skin vs into the muscle tissue, the 2nd for a complete wellness exam and the 3rd to finish puppy shots and check stool samples on April 1st 2014. It turns out that the smaller puppy had EAR MITES the entire time! We noticed it especially this past weekend and promptly called the vet for a remedy. He called us back within an hour and his attitude at the beginning of the conversation was him stating that he doesn't appreciate being interrupted during his day with phone calls when he has other patients to see and that this was the 2nd time in a month that we called with a question?! We told him we suspected ear mites and he said that we may be mis-diagnosing the problem and an ear infection causes yellowish discharge. After doing extensive research ourselves and knowing the difference in color between YELLOW and DARK BROWN TO REDDISH wax color we know it is ear mites. Every time we did bring the dogs in we told him that they were scratching incessantly and he shrugged it off as 'allergies/dry skin'. All this time they have been suffering and even during the wellness exam he did not check their ears!! I also blame myself for not being a better puppy parent but I thought the vet was supposed to do that?! To top it off he told us to get a medication which he gave us the name.... HOWEVER it is only available via prescription and is not an over the counter product. He did not offer to call it in or tell us to come pick it up. I'm kind of saddened to have to write this because I did initially like him but he tends to ramble on during office visits and doesn't concentrate on the animals enough  at least for me. We won't be going back there again and will look for another vet in the area. I think part of the problem is that he did NOT diagnose the ear mite problem and couldn't eat a little 'crow' and admit his oversight. This past weekend was when we realized it was ear mites since the dogs ears smelled foul and there were gross black clumps of ear wax and mite debris. I don't think a new puppy parent should be made to feel wrong in calling the vet to address a concern after all isn't that their job?
