They quality of work was very good and they keep my family safe.

From the first call it was a pleasure dealing with this company. Everything was up front and explained. Installation was done in one visit and post testing showed a reduction to safe levels.

The test came back pretty low so they said if I want to do it fine, but there was no indication for me to do anything. They were pretty straight forward. It was very positive. If I decide to do it at some point, I would definitely use them.

It was a pleasure dealing with NextStep; Heather provided us with great information over the phone to begin with and Matt came over and did a thorough and professional job as far as identifying the needs we had for radon remediation. The job was completed ahead of schedule and was professionally done. I highly recommend them.

The guys installed the whole system in under 2 1/2 hours, and the radon level in the basement went from 5.3 to 0.4 pCi/L. Very satisfied with the result.

From start to finish, the job took 2 hours. There was no mess, no fuss, and all seems to be in working order. Just have to test again to ensure successful mitigation. I was having trouble getting out of work to have the job done within normal business hours, but Next Step offered to meet me at home after I got out of work and do the work in the evening because they knew refinancing of my home depended on getting this work done. This is A+ customer service and it is much appreciated!

The work was done quickly and we retested but the gas rating was still high. I got a recommendation from Matt to caulk some additional cracks and Matt came back and drilled pilot holes to confirm the draw of the system across the full basement and everything there was good. Then we retested successfully. Bottom line Matt and Heather were very responsive to my needs, their service and support were excellent and of all the contractors I've had in my home they were by far the very best!

Contacted Next Step to replace a failing Radon System Fan. Next Step was prompt, professional, and very clear on what would be done, what needed to be done and the costs involved. They complete their end of the job quickly and efficiently.

During the inspection they discovered a problem with the plumbing / sewer pipes in the house. Offered advice on how to mitigate the problem and even went so far as to give me a hand to shore things up until I could get the pipes fixed correctly.

All in all extremely professional company that I would use again if needed and would definitely recommend to my neighbors.

Perfect.  Communication and responsiveness from Heather and Matt could not have been better.  Near immediate responses to all my emails and calls any time of day/evening/week-end.  They are the most technical competent of all the companies I contacted and understand the industry trends and code requirements.   I could not be happier.  I am very pleased with the exhaust fan manufacturer that they used.  Our short term reading is now 1.2 and I will do a long term test at Matt's suggestion.  Matt also repaired the way the electric was connected on the old system which was not to code and unsafe wire on the outside of the house not wrapped in conduit.  Their price was competitive.

After buying my new home and finding the levels of Radon were slightly above the risk levels (6.0), I contacted Next Step based on some word of mouth and was extremely glad I did.  I spoke to Heather who scheduled me with Matt a couple days later, but knowing that I wanted to get the system installed soon, she scheduled my install right away for the following week even before the estimate.  This was great service to know that if the estimate is what I wanted, I would already have a date and time nailed down. Matt came out to perform the estimate and not only was he able to provide an estimate, but he was a wealth of information about Radon in general; what it is, how is comes into my house, what the dangers are, how the systems work AND how exactly he would install my system.  I wanted to know as much as possible and he was willing to tell me everything I wanted to know.  He decided on a system to run through my sump pit and we were already scheduled for a few days later.  
On the day of the installation, Matt came and told me he was thinking about my installation and was thinking it would be better to perform a subslab install.  There was a tight cramped spot but he was confident he would be able to install without issues.  I agreed and he went about the install.  After a few hours, he was finished and showed me everything I needed to know.  I was extremely impressed with the professional job that was done.  The system was run very well, very tight and was just well put together.  Hard to explain, but you know when you get a professional job done when you see it and this was it.  I even showed pictures of the system to some interested co-workers and they were impressed as well.  You know you are impressed if you are showing pictures of a radon mitigation system to co-workers!  After explaining the system, Matt explained the follow up test procedures in detail so that we had no problems performing the follow up test a couple weeks later.  Our house levels went from 6.0 to .4!  Matt and Heather were terrific to work with, extremely professional and just very cool to work with.  Very down to earth and easy going.  It was the best infrastructure investment we have made for our house for sure.   I have already recommended Next Step Environmental to several other local realtors, neighbors and family.

Matt was very prompt when coming out to provide a quote and get the layout to install a radon mitigation system. He also had the job complete within one week. Additionally the job looks very professional and he cleaned up throughly. Lastly, his wife was very responsive in responding to all email questions.

We were so impressed! Heather called us to schedule an appointment the very next day. It quickly became clear that the previous owners had had a sub-standard mitigation system installed. Matt fixed the system (which involved moving pipes, adjusting the fan, installing various safety features) and sealed our sump pump. For the amount of work done and the professional service, we thought the fee was really very reasonable. We'd recommend Matt and Heather to anyone!

Since planning to spend more time in my basement, I felt that I needed to do a radon test. I was shocked to learn that my radon level was 14.4. I immediately called Next Step because of great reviews. Heather answered my initial questions and scheduled Matt to come out the following day. I was immediately impressed with his professionalism. Matt explained in detail the mitigation system that he would install. He gave me an overview of radon, explained the pump system and his expectations for reducing radon levels, and encouraged me to ask questions. In fact, both Heather and Matt told me to call at any time with my questions and concerns. Matt came three days later to install the system. The system itself, both inside and out, blends well with the design of my home. The fan is quiet. In fact, I forget it is even there. Matt was exceptional in his clean-up and made absolutely no dust when drilling my basement floor. Lastly, he took the time to explain the radon retesting, of which he supplied the kit. I was very happy with a final radon testing of 2.6. Next Step is a top-notch company! Matt and Heather were truly concerned about me and my radon problem. You could tell that they truly want to please the customer!!! I highly recommend Next Step if you have a radon concern.

Matt & Heather were great to work with! Heather was so quick in responding to our initial inquiry. After Matt came out to do the estimate, he provided a detailed review of the work to be done the same night! They also broke up the work into two phases (we have a basement and slab foundation). This way we wouldn't have to pay for the additional work (on the slab) if the basement system took the levels down on its own. Our test results came back quickly and lowered our radon level from over 9 to just 0.5! We were very happy with the service and would definitely recommend Next Step.

Matthew Winslow of Next Step Environmental Services -- a professional throughout the entire process.  From the moment I called Next Step and spoke w/Heather I was given precise information so I could schedule Next Step to review my need.  I'd had a radon inspector in my home which I'm selling and my radon count was over 4 which required the system to be installed.  Matt came reviewed the situation, gave me the price, set the date for installation.  Matt started the job on time and when I got to my home he was almost finished.  He reviewed the system with me and how I was to do the post test in 48 hours.  The post test was done and the radon level in the basement is now under 3.9.

Exceptional service and response time!  We are in the process of selling our home and found that our radon levels were high after a radon test done during the inspection period.  Given that we are settling in a month, we needed to find someone who could reliably fix this problem quickly and effectively.  I found Next Step on Angie's List and called on 5/27 - spoke with Heather, who was extremely pleasant and helpful, and said that the work could be done the next day.  She took all of the details that she needed over the phone to give me a quote, and we were pleasantly surprised at the reasonable price.  We agreed to the work and the next day Matt was there and installed our system in 2 hours.  He also took time to explain what he was going to do and why, and how to perform the testing post installation to ensure our levels are corrected.  He was very thorough and knowledgeable and we are extremely pleased with his work and would highly recommend Next Step to anyone looking for remediation of radon issues!  Many thanks to Matt and Heather for all their help!
