Mr. Connor and his staff were quite professional, thorough, courteous, and concerned for detail in every aspect, in the prep work, the actual tasks, and the cleanup. We are very pleased with the results and would use them again. We even had a couple of neighbors use J. Connor Builders after they saw the work and the quality performed at our house. This company and the people are first rate.
At the time of initial contact and during the walk through to gather the scope of work for the estimate, attention was given to the work needing to be done, the most economical way to complete the work and the identification of any issues that could complicate the job or make it more time consuming/costly. After identification of any potential complicating issues, solutions were discussed to make the work cost effective but achieve the desired result. The attention given by the owner and the carpenters is appreciated. The hardwood floor installation required many initial cuts due to the configuration of the room. The carpenters made the cuts with precision and ensured each length of flooring fit well before proceeding, resulting in a very pleasing finished flooring product. While some of the work might be considered routine, e.g., replacing a door or window, in places it did involve the contractor needing to re-create molding no longer available for purchase off the shelf. The made on-site molding matches the original so very well. Another window required new framing along with hardwood interior facing, these requiring many mitered cuts. Perhaps not unusual, but the fit of the final project is impressive. My projects were not only completed, but completed well. After completion of the initial contracted work, I added a few small projects, as I was very pleased with the work performed, communication over the course of the initial project and the honesty of the owner and his team.
J. Connor and help were efficient, always cleaning up after a days work. Tiles had to be measured, cut to fit where needed, corner tiles cut, grout applied; cleanup and wiping down the film on the grout was done to perfection. Many washings were needed and continued until they were satisfied and the tiles were clean. Shower base was placed, pipes were cut to accommodate shower vs bathtub fittings; all done with perfection and treating our home and bathroom as if it were their own. Very, very satisfied as this is the second time we have used J. Connor Builders because of their integrity and pride in their work. The first time was for crown molding and repair of cracks in ceiling which we had repaired by many other contractors due to a fault in initial construction when our home was built. Also, work was done outdoors for tile cutting, leaving absolutely no trace of any sort of debris; never knowing that anyone even worked outside. Things, items needed for the following days work, were placed aside with total respect and order.
"J Connor Builders is concerned that we have an unhappy customer. The first communication with this customer was on 09/04/14 at which time the first proposal was sent via email. Beginning on 10/22/14, additional email communication was sent back and forth which resulted in an additional proposal (sent 11/29/14) that included removing the entire carport instead of repairing the existing. During these email conversations, it was decided and agreed upon with both parties to wait until Spring when the weather was warmer because concrete was to be poured to secure the posts on the carport. In mid February, a follow up email was sent and it was agreed that it still was too cold to pour concrete. Mid March, another follow up email was sent. With the uncontrollable weather and scheduling conflicts, the project was eventually scheduled for 6/6/15 (a Saturday). With the understanding that it was taking longer than expected to complete this project (which was entirely outside) we eventually completed the project as agreed upon on the proposal for fix the carport (and not totally remove it). The debris from the project was left at the customer's location after completion, but only overnight. It was picked up first thing the next morning and disposed of properly. The customer indicated that when she returned home she could move the carport – this was expected, since we had just poured concrete around the poles of the carport and it had not yet had a chance to totally set properly. It was also mentioned that texting was a form of communication, but it was not the only form of communication. There were several emails (per above), phone calls and text messages utilized to communicate. The scope of work that was agreed upon included removing the existing steel posts, dig footers for new posts, installing new pressure treated wood posts, pouring concrete around the bottom of the new posts, securing the tops of the new posts to the carport roof and removing all debris from the site. J Connor Builders performed all items listed and agreed upon on the scope of work."
More impressively, we had a floating seam that the builders had told us about, but we could never get rid of the cracking where it was. Jay used mesh and plaster to get rid of it for good. This was the 6th time that it was worked on.
They did everything that they needed to do, cleaned up afterward, and then moved everything back the way it was. They treated it as if it was their own home. I was very impressed. They even threw in a couple extras and didn't charge us for them. If they saw that there was a problem, they fixed it. They even left me the extra paint and caulking.
I explained what the problem was and he got right to looking at the work requirements and gave me an repair estimate, and I agreed .Work went well fast service and cleaned up work area when completed. Good Job'. Use his service on any house repair jobs in the future.
"I am writing this letter to address the accusations made that references concern against my business. I would like to start by saying that I have been the owner and operator of J Connor Builders for approximately eight (8) years. In that time, to the best of my knowledge, we have served numerous customers and have never had anyone make a complaint. We take pride in our work and normally will do anything it takes to make the customer happy within reason. When we installed the fence for the customer, she was at the residence where the work was performed. The customer was given two (2) options as to how the fence could be installed. The first option was to keep all of the fence panels lower to the ground, but due to the elevation difference in her yard the tops of the panels would not be the same height. The second option was to keep the tops of the panels the same height, but doing so we would start at the highest elevation of the yard and the panels would be a little higher from the ground in the back of the yard. I informed her that the height of the panels would be no more than one foot from the ground. The customer is claiming that the panels are 3-4 feet from the ground. This is not the case as you will see from the photos that I am enclosing. The highest panels are 12 inches from the ground. The customer sent me an e-mail with her concerns dated January 3, 2014, eight months after the work was completed. I responded via e-mail stating that we could not make any adjustments without further compensation due to the fact that we installed the fence in accordance with what was agreed upon during our previous conversations. In addition, the customer was sent numerous detailed pictures during and directly after the job that showed the elevations of all of the fence panels. Some pictures were sent by me and some pictures were sent by one of her neighbors. The customer made several comments on how pleased she was with the fence and how great the pictures looked that her neighbor sent to her. Besides this complaint filed with Angie's List, this customer also sent a complaint to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in Delaware. I have responded to the BBB request and to my knowledge, the complaint was not valid resulting in no complaints against my company."
My wife and I live in a 55+ community ( Barclay Farms ) and we depend on good, honest, reliable contracters. J Connor Builders met all of our expectations.
The handyman came to our home and my husband showed him the present door and reviewed options that were available and what he felt he could do. We are looking at upgrading the front door. He followed immediately with a quote and followed with a call. He certainly was professional in all ways. The price was higher than WE wanted to pay , however not out of line with the market. We are simply waiting and looking at other options.
