General Remodeling
This contractor took no pride in his work, cut corners and did not provide services as written in the agreed upon proposal. He was paid in full and we received low quality, untimely service.
Bedroom and closet doors were installed without stain or door knobs. When I called about finishing the work, the contractor said he was in Baltimore and would call back. He never did and didn't return messages for several days. Work was to be completed in 1 week but after 3 weeks items on the proposal were still incomplete. Contractor didn't follow his proposal and substituted other work for which he then wanted additional compensation (example - instead of replacing trim around the kitchen door as written in the proposal he put trim around a window then sought additional payment for his mistake).
He was told several times not to bother bathroom door but when we returned he had removed the antique knob and replaced it with a knob of a different size leaving a large hole in the door. We showed a picture to him and he claimed the work was complete. We had to wait several days for him to come back and fill the hole on a door he was told not to bother.
Workers left scratches and dried plaster on our new bamboo flooring because they didn't use drop cloths while working. We were charged for 2 workers but every time we came home to check on the progress there was only one person working. Workers also used materials we owned that were in the house and didn't adjust the costs, reimburse us or replace our belongings.
Workers were to level a window in the kitchen which they then broke. Contractor claimed it was broken when he arrived but we had no issue with the window prior to their work on it. We now have to hire a new contractor to fix what he's broken, damaged and not completed.
