Tenleytown Trash

This trash service has picked up garbage from my home for many years.  Recently, their accountant (Ms. Edmands) approached me to pay invoices accrued by one of their other clients many years ago in early 2013. After I redirected them to their client, they proceeded to bill me despite using credit card information on file.  I engaged the owner (Mr. Shapiro) who proceeded to threaten to stop services knowing I am away on international travel for work and acknowledging trash pick up is mandatory in the district for my home.  He made this unprofessional threat in haste after his own accountant claimed she billed me for multiple months in 2013 in error.  I am not sure why the company is attempting to add erroneous invoices of nearly 3 years ago, but when I caught them, Mr. Shapiro immediately aimed to stop services despite my account being current for many years as it is NOW.
I am shocked that they would behave in such a way and would warn others about the potential of no shows or threats to cancel on the part of the owner himself. 

From the beginning, Tenleytown was a joy to work with. Compared to our last contractor, Tenleytown was friendly and responsive; they worked with us to negotiate a contract that not only saved us money, but greatly improved service. Our trash is always picked up as scheduled and the employees leave our trash room clean. Tenleytown is sensitive to our needs, picking up trash that a resident might leave out of or piled on a bin. Before Tenleytown we regularly had complaints about the state of the trash room, but I don't think that we have received any complaints since we signed with them a year ago. It's unusual to find a contractor that provides excellent service at an excellent rate. We are very pleased to renew the contract and highly recommend Tenleytown to other condo associations.

As I mentioned, we've been using their service for over 4 years. They're supposed to pick up trash 2x a week and recycling maybe 1x a week. The recycling bin hasn't been an issue, but our trash has been overflowing for the last 4,5,6 months. They were awesome.. until now..

We were very unsatisfied with our previous trash removal company, so decided to explore our options. I noticed that Tenleytown was well reviewed on Angie's list, so contacted them for further information. It turned out that they were less expensive than our current company and provided much better service. We signed contract three months ago and have been very satisfied. We used to get complaints from residents about trash not being picked up. Now all we get are compliments about Tenleytown's great service and our trash room has never been this clean.

We hired Tenley Town to provide service for our church which has an active pantry and a summer camp. We initially talked with Mr. Barney Shapiro (the owner); Mr. Allen met with the Pastor and an agreement was made for us to receive 3 toters and 1 recycle and a pick up twice per week. We received 2 toters. We were promised by Mr. Shapiro that we would receive the third toter and that he would visit the site to determine if we needed more than 3 toters; this visit did not happen nor did we receive the third toter that was stated in our contract. Several pickups were missed which caused a serious backup of trash and other debris. After cancelling the contract on July 20, three week lapsed before TenleyTown came to remove their toters from the premises. Two reasons for selecting TenleyTown were the recommendations on Angie’s List and their being a local business. Needless to say, we were very disappointed with the overall service from this company.

I've used Tenleytown for years. I started with them to support a DC based company but that motivation is wearing thin. In general, they do what they are paid to do, but when there is a problem there is NO SERVICE. NO RESPONSE from their office. NEVER. My service started out as Trash only but then I learned when they increased their rates that I had been paying all along for recycling service as well, but wasn't receiving it. So we started recycling service in the fall of 2011 and it took me 8 weeks to get them to provide the service on the day of the week that they come by. Most of the time during that 8 weeks, I would get NO RESPONSE from their office, but one day I actually got a person to answer the phone and she put me in touch with a manager. Even working with the manager, it took three weeks (service is once a week, so three attempts) to get the problem fixed. Since then, overall, service has been spotty with no service being provided about every 5 or 6 weeks.This week, I once again had to come home from work and haul my recycling back inside where it will pile up and be a huge amount by next week's recycling day. Once again, I called and left a message with their office and sent two e-mails. I understand that sometimes things go wrong. When I report a problem, what I expect is that somebody from the office acknowledge it and assure me that it will not happen again. But that is expecting too much from Tenleytown.If getting a response when there is a problem with your service is something that you are looking for, then I would not use Tenleytown Trash. I have finally switched and am happy to not have to deal with Tenleytown's lack of service.

They were good. Overall, I would rate their services as "A". I would use their services again in the future.

They are very responsive when I have a problem. Their prices range depending upon the property and the service.

I have been very pleased. I haven't heard any complaints from the people who handle the property. They pick up regularly. They bill on time. They have a good system. If I do have a problem and call, they do respond. The price is reasonable and fair. They handle both the trash and recycling for the commercial property.

It was excellent. They came when they said they would. I can only give them great marks. I would recommend them.

Excellent and easy. When I called for pick-up, the office gave me a verbal estimate and I provided her with my credit card number. First thing the next morning - around 6:30 a.m, the truck came and picked up the rug and pad (we'd cut it in manageable size) and, seeing it was not that much, they very honestly charged me less than the estimate. This firm is honest and efficient. They rely on repeat business and they will have my business whenever I need help.

They were excellent. They were very accommodating and prompt. They have a flexible service. I give them all A's for their service.
