service man from Fry was ontime. while he was still working, had not given me an invoice and had not discussed work with me, I received call from their office saying they couldn't fix the leak today because of supplies that would be needed and amount of time needed. He insisted that I had to pay $157 just for the service call and additional work ... with not specific listing of cost ... could cost upwards to $1,000. He insisted that he wanted either cash or a credit card today. he would not accept a check. Serviceman didn't even know the office had called me. No thanks, Fry. I won't use you again. in exchange for my money, I insist on customer service.

So fine. Roger was there when they said he would be. He looked at both the outside faucet and the inside valve. He had the parts on his truck. It was not easy, but he did the work in 1 1/2 hours. He was clean, polite, and so skillful. There was never any doubt that he had the expertise to do the job.

I called D.H. Stevens after having another plumber come and look at our leaky faucet, who gave us an outrageous quote and wouldn't leave until I forcefully told him we were not using their service. My experience with D.H. Stevens could not have been different! They were accommodating and very punctual. Alejandro, who fixed the problem for us, was informative, and very polite. We could not have been happier with the service and will be using this company again for any of our future plumbing needs. We highly recommend this company.

Plumber was experienced and very professional. He located the problem and recommended a solution. I’ve used Stevens on previous occasions and have always been satisfied.

The service was excellent- despite the winter stress, they came the same day we called. We had a burst pipe, and they fixed it efficiently and well, and left the house in a clean state. Clear communication all around, and the price was reasonable. An A+ from me

I called this company because we had a steam radiator pipe that leaking steam (not leaking seriously, we have left it for years and only just decided to repair it) and some of the control valves and steam vents of our 7 steam radiators are rusted, and we would like to change to new valves and vents. The technician came on 5th December and he found out that the leaking was caused by one loose lockout, hence, he put pipe tape on, retightened it, turn the boiler on, and clean the area, job done. He then came downstairs and told me that all valves and steam vents need changing, then went to his car and called his company to get prices for parts to give me an estimate. The technician came in with an estimate and a bill of $220. I signed and paid the invoice without checking details. Later on, I was thinking this was a very expensive bill for a technician to simply fasten one loose lockout, so I checked the bill and found out the technician charged me full hour’s fee from 11:30 – 12:30, to put pipe tape on, fasten the lockout, turn the boiler on and clean the area. According to my recollection, the actual work did not take more than 10 minutes and he was in the house inspecting other 6 radiators. In total, he spent less than 30 minutes in the house before he went to his car. So I called the company on 6th December and made a compliant about the issue. Richard, who was dealing with me, asked me if I have any prove of when the technician arrived and when he left, I told him that I didn’t have any prove, and admitted that I signed the invoice without checking, but I told him that according to my recollections, it was clear that the technician took less than 30 minutes to do the job. Richard agreed to talk to the technician and get back to me later. When Richard called me back, he said he believed that the technician charged me fairly, and he insisted that the charge was FAIR even after I told him that I found proves to show the technician only spent less than 30 minutes to do the job and inspecting works need to be done for an estimate, and the rest of the time he spent was sitting in his car calling his company and writing up an estimate and invoice. (I always text my husband as soon as a workman shows up as a safety precaution, so when the technician arrived, I immediately texted my husband and told him the technician arrived at 11:53 am. At 12:17, I texted my husband again told him what the technician said about what to be done and told him that I am just waiting for his estimate – the technician was already went to his car to write an estimate by then. ) Richard confirmed that we paid $75 for their technician to come out and give us a free estimate, so the time spent from inspecting works to be done to write an estimate is FREE. But their technician, did not only charge $75 service fees, but also charged the time before he even arrived at our house (his invoice indicated that his work started at 11:30, but my text message shows he arrived around 11:53), tightening a loose lockout, inspecting works to be done, calling his company for parts price and writing up a 3 lines estimate and an invoice. Oh by the way, the technician charged an hour’s fee to tightening a loose lockout, will soon be replaced. They gave me $25 discount, but……

Plumber checked and tested everything thoroughly. He concluded it was not necessary to snake the the drains or do anything further at this time. I could have been easily talked into additional services, but he was very honest in his assessment and clearly didn't want me to pay for anything I didn't truly need. I was charged for his time only.

Unresponsive and I had to call them three times a week to follow up on an estimate. Took a number of calls just to get it. Turns out this was done the day of inspection but was not sent out. The following week I also called a number of times but gave up. It does not seem they are a team as only the person who did the estimate knew about the job and seems to be the only one who can. Odd and inefficient.

I am shocked by the good reviews here. I've never dealt with a company as disorganized and unresponsive as this one. The plumbers themselves were polite and competent, but the office made it nearly impossible to get the work done. Here's a recap. I called Stevens Co in mid-May 2017 in order to address a leaking sink sprayer, a leaking lift pump (that carried water from my basement washing machine to the city pipeline), and a running toilet. I was given an appointment on May 31st. At that appointment, the plumber was unable to fix any of my problems except for the running toilet, despite several somewhat creative efforts to deal with the sprayer and lift pump. Ultimately he decided we'd need to special order some parts before he could complete the repair. He took photos and said the main office would call back with an update and to schedule the follow up. 10 days later, I had heard nothing, so I called in for an update. The person I spoke with looked at my file, and said they were waiting to hear back on parts. They'd call back as soon as they received them. By June 26th, nearly a whole month later, I still had heard nothing, so I called in again and was told they hadn't been able to find the sprayer part after all, so they'd dropped my case. Nobody had called to tell me, which they apologized for, but upon further questioning, I also found out that they'd completely forgotten the lift pump issue. They hadn't done any follow up work on that at all. They assured me they'd look into it now and call me back (you can see where this is headed). July 7th I called back, and they said they could custom fit a gasket for me, and would I like to schedule an appointment? By then I had tracked down my replacement sprayer on my own, so I said I would call back once that part arrived, so they could install it and fix the lift pump at the same time. The day it arrived, I called and left a message with their answering service (the office had closed early), and never received a call back. I called again the following week and finally was able to schedule an appointment for August 1st, two and a half months after my initial call. When the plumber arrived, he was able to replace my sprayer, but he had no idea what I meant about making a custom gasket for the lift pump. That's not his fault, the office came up with that idea and said they would send this one plumber out specifically who could handle the job. But then they didn't tell him? He called back into the office to figure out what they were talking about, and had to go get materials that he could have easily brought with him if he'd known ahead of time. They took an hour off my bill to account for this, but it was still a much harder process than it needed to be. I'm keeping my fingers crossed the new gasket works, but it's too early to tell at this point. What I do know is that I won't be calling these guys again. Even though their plumbers did the best they could, the office was so completely disorganized and non-responsive I can't imagine working with them again. The only reason I kept at it for 2 and a half months was because they kept stringing me along with false assurances, and frankly I didn't want to pay another company's site visit fee to start all over again from scratch.

I originally called Stevens to fix shower (no hot water) and take a look at disposal and toilet (both were leaking), and they ended up coming back twice more -- for new disposal and then new toilet. I was VERY impressed by the courtesy and professionalism of everyone I dealt with and the quality of the services provided. Scheduling (and in my case rescheduling multiple times) was easy, and technicians arrived punctually (and I was also grateful for the calls to let me know they were on their way), and they were polite, informative, and scrupulously neat and did a great job. I hope I don't need to call a plumber for a while but when I do, I won't hesitate to call Stevens. Really A+++++++ company!!!!!!

They were fine. They've always been good. I can't tell you about the price because my management company paid them. I can't totally attest to the price, but I'm assuming my management company wouldn't use them if it was outrageous.

DH Stevens is everything you want in a plumbing company. After 3 failed attempts by others to identify the stoppage in the main, DH Stevens identified and resolved it within the hour at 1/2 the price. They also provided me with a video of the drain.

The plumber arrived early to set thing up outside of the house and knock on the door exactly at the time of the appointment. He quickly decided to use a long "snake" to clear the drain. He methodically prepared the work site, laying down drop cloth, setting up the machine and moving things out of the cabinet under the sink. Then he proceeded to put about 40 feet of "snake" into the piping. The clogging was immediately removed when he tested it. He took it out gathered his stuff and left. The prep and gathering took about 30 minutes. The actual clearing about 30 minutes. The plumber was very courteous and professional. He patiently answered my question as he worked. He also gave me some advice about how to maintain the kitchen drain and get rid of the grease (which was the culprit in this case) regularly.

Stevens came back for a follow up visit with a camera and determined the tree roots were not on my property, but rather city sewer lines. Overall they were very thorough at a fair price. I've used them subsequently for other minor plumbing issues and found them reliable.

This is the third time I have used Stevens for plumbing issues and every time I am impressed with the professionalism and quality of their service. Making an appointment is easy and the technicians show up right on time and quickly identify and fix the problems. While I hope I have no further plumbing problems, if I do, I will again turn to Stevens.
