They did a nice job overall.  Otto and his gang are really the only guys who have the know-how to do these complex main water line replacements.  It was going to be $9-10k for the overall replacement, but it turned out they could save some of that cost since most of the line could stay the same.  Overall price felt fair, although I wish we could have found the short-cut earlier.  Don't think it was any fault of their team.

We were desperate.  Frozen pipe, flooding basement.  He arrived promptly and saved the day.  It was expensive, but we knew that going in due to Sunday fee.

Seidel was the first company I called because they were the closest listed. Because of the freezing temps, they said they might not be able to get to us today, but they would try. They advised me on how to minimize damage in the meantime and encouraged me to try other companies to see if someone could get here earlier. Two hours later, he called and said he could be here in 20 min. and also told me upfront that the minimum charge would be $250. He arrived in 15 min., found the problem with the cut-off valve, fixed it and also looked at a couple other faucets that could cause problems in this weather and showed me how to prevent future difficulties. There was no additional charge about the $250 minimum.
This man knows what he is doing, and he was very generous  to advise me on how to avoid future problems at my first call and when he was here in person. I really appreciated this. I would have felt more comfortable, however, if he had spoken more respectfully to his assistant. I realize this is probably just his way, but it's difficult to listen to and detracted from the overall experience.

My regular plumber (Brookland Plumbing) was out of town so I called Seidel because they were local. They quoted me an hourly price, had good reviews on Angie's List, and could come soon so I went ahead and scheduled an appointment. They seemed to fix the problem. My concern is that upon leaving he demanded payment not only for the time spent but also for travel time. This was not explained to me when I made the appointment, when he only mentioned the hourly rate. He only came from elsewhere in DC. If you call them, be specific about the pricing.

Seidel Plumbing did a spectacular job.  Otto sent a team of people over and finished the job well ahead of schedule.  They replaced the pipe and repaired the garden and sidewalk, and the end price was exactly what they had estimated.  We've also used Seidel Plumbing for unrelated minor plumbing issues since then.  Otto is a bit crusty, and is fairly expensive, but he does a great job.

Our landscaper recommended Otto based on a significant amount of water in our backyard. Otto and crew were at our home within about a week to replace a busted water line that ran from the sidewalk to our home.  We had quotes from two other companies that were going to put drains in the backyard to take care of the water.  Otto diagnosed the problem instead of offering a band aid like the other companies.   They even put the hastas(decorative plants) back when they were done!!!!

Fantastic.  We didn't consider it an emergency, but Mr. Seidel arrived the day we called.  He set to work clearing out the accumulated muck when I went to pick up the kids from daycare.  When I returned 30 minutes later, he had cleared out the drain and fished out the problem item - a large rock that had fallen in years before and gotten stuck in the bend of the trap.  One other plumber had tried to snake the drain and couldn't get through (because the snake hit the rock) but Mr. Seidel brought just the right equipment to not only snake but also vacuum out the buildup and then fish out the rock.  Saved us considerable money we would have had to spend digging the pipe out of the concrete, clearing the obstruction, then repairing the porch.

I had previous plumbers come out to try to fix something and they hadn't gotten it done. They were able to totally finish the project and I haven't had any problems since. I would have liked to have had a better quote upfront. He did a fantastic job and I haven't had any issues. He came out for free and the total job was $1,600.

2 men (one plumber & one helper) x 4 hours = $855 Use of motorized root-cutter drain snake & camera = $400 He is very experienced with DC row-house plumbing, but is expensive.

From the get-go... Seidel plumbing was very good. They came over at the time that they said they would. They took a look (which was free to do). They then gave me an estimate. Due to the complexity of the job, i was expecting it to be much more involved, including having some of my piping dug up and removed if the snake was unable to complete the job. They examined the job and gave me a price quote for both actions and told me that if the snake did not do the job that the money used for the snaking would be applied towards digging the drain out and not two separate charges. The job was clean quick and he showed up on time. Very professional and friendly and would totally recommend.

Otto was very good. He wasnt cheap, but when we needed him after hours he came on little notice with no emergency fee, he was efficient, and he even offered extra services at no extra charge. No one ever "likes" to call a plumber, but this is one we would consider calling again, which is a huge compliment!

Had backed up pipes. Company had to dig in multiple areas to replace pipes and fixed dug up areas after pipes replaced. 2 day job.

I was not happy about the price I was charged to replace this small amount of hardware. I have used this company before. I realize that reasonable prices and plumbers do not go together, but to charge that much for less than an hours work is ridiculous. I had received fair prices and good work from them before, I hope that this was an isolated incident.

What more can you say about a plumber who is willing to come out on Christmas Eve to do a job. I think that is dedication and good customer service. I will definitely call them again if I need more work taken care of. They are very dependable.

Outstanding. Otto Seidel has a master's understanding of sewer systems on Capitol Hill. Upon arrival he reviewed a previous video inspection (by Spartan Plumbing) and immediately recommended a course of action. He re-snaked my sewer line and knew what to look for, and found the running trap in my back yard which had been buried by the previous owner. (Spartan had no clue). He cleaned out the buried trap and did a video inspection. Totally solved the problem which Spartan had mis-diagnosed. Otto also installed an improved main line clean out and an access cover for the running trap. Can't say enough about Otto's clear explanation of my sewer layout, potential issues to look for and overall professionalism.
