Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

f I could give them zero stars, I would. Called rotorooters to help with a leak - they claimed the leak came from 'brown' water pipe (ie dirty water), so striped the walls of the basement back without a further examination and the manager called a 'trusted' contractor to give a quote to repair. Of course the water turned out to be clean water, from the shower and so the walls didn't need to be stripped back at all. All at a considerable - and ultimately unnecessary - cost. And of course, the 'trusted' contractor that provided a quote is now suing me for not using them to do the remediation work, even though their quote was 20% higher than the company I actually contracted to do the remediation work. Seems dangerously close to fraud.

The toilet had a sponge stuck in it. I think the price was a bit high. Just one crew member made sure all was explained and left area clean.

The thing that stood out was we could schedule with them, they came, the drain started working again. The one down side is they're not cheap. They did what they said they were going to do and that counts a lot.

3. Technician, Ron Rice # 2023, was very knowledgeable and competent. The only thing he could have done better would have been to see that the coupler was the wrong size before getting the replacement that would not work.  This would not have solved the problem any quicker, but it might have resulted in a lower labor charge for going to get the wrong part.  This would have been hard to detect, as the builder should not have installed that incorrect part.  Measuring the outside diameter of the intake pipe would have been difficult, but not impossible. I consider this a minor criticism on an otherwise excellent incident response.

Kam (#855) was wonderful.  Although the company was unable to find someone to respond the day I called, which was frustrating (but in fairness was the day of an epic rainfall), Kam arrived early the following evening and worked until 11:30 to find and clear an underground gutter drainpipe that had become blocked with tree roots.  There were a couple of downspouts involved, and it was not immediately apparent what direction the pipe went underground, but he was cheerful and persistent, and ultimately was able to find, dig up, cut and redirect the pipe.  He even reattached the downspout (which we had moved to prevent water from building up against the house) for us.  We would use him again in a heartbeat and will ask for him next time.

water goes fast now, no clot. The technician is professional and careful. He did an excellent job. He was also patient for customer's questions.

A couple of days ago, a family member inadvertently flushed a disposable heat wrap she was wearing down the toilet, which became stuck and disabled the flushing mechanism immediately. We live in an old house with just one bathroom, so we really needed to get this toilet working again right away. Two plumbing companies were called before Roto-Rooter who claimed to offer 24/7 emergency service, but said they wouldn't be able to send anyone to our house until the next morning. In fact, one of the companies gave us an estimated time of between 8:00 a.m and 1:00 p.m. the next day! What a relief it was when Lisa at Roto-Rooter said she could send a plumber to our house by 10;00 that evening or earlier (it was just after 8:00 p.m. at the time). Roto-Rooter sent a confirmation email right after they were contacted, and called within 30 minutes of the plumber's arrival. The plumber (Van Nghaka) arrived at 9:15 p.m. Van was very kind and professional and took the time to explain what he was going to do along with the cost for each job. He made if clear that he wanted to try the easiest and least expensive options first. When snaking the toilet proved unsuccessful, Van went back to his truck and brought in a big vacuum, which pulled out the offending heat wrap in just a couple of minutes! Van was also kind enough to let my family member know she shouldn't feel bad, telling her that what had happened was an accident. We had no problem paying the $200 for the job; Van and Roto-Rooter saved us from what would have been a very bad evening! Roto-Rooter is definitely a class act who really came through for us when we needed it most. To everyone who works there-please keep offering the 24/7 service -- it is greatly needed and appreciated!

I liked that they came the very next day. They were timely. They were prompt. I called them one day and they came the very next. The availability was great. I didn't have to wait. The person was very knowledgeable about the product I had them install in my house and other products. He knew how to address the issue directly. It was not gonna be an exploratory visit. That was good. I had no issues.

They were very prompt in coming out. It was a weekend when we had horrendous rain over here. we called 2 other plumbers and they couldn't make it until we called Roto Rooter. They send somebody out pretty quickly. He did the drain and he was a very nice guy. I'm not sure he did a perfect job because the drain overflowed again but it was a very heavy rain. I like their promptness and availability like nobody is available. We were desperate because we had water coming in the basement. They came within an hour. They guy was very good and he did what he needed to do and the water started draining away.

They were there on time and did the job, and I was pleased with the work. It was also helpful to be able to call their nationwide line and have them service my other home in Florida even though I was out of state. In the Florida location, a pipe had burst and they took care of that very well.

The plumber came quickly (A for promptness) and did what he was supposed to. However, I think Roto Rooter's prices are higher than our usual plumber.

The aging plumbing in our parents' 60+ year old house has become increasingly problematic.  One day we noticed water on the laundry room floor and assumed it was a leaking washing machine hose.  Unfortunately, it was a broken or clogged pipe that sent sewage water bubbling up through floor drains in the basement.  We could not use the water or flush the toilets anywhere in the house.  A young man responded to our call quickly and worked very hard for a couple of hours before concluding that he needed more help.  A second man arrived and they two worked together very hard for many hours.  They had to cut through a wall to access the pipe.  It was a frantic day for us because our parents are aging and ailing, and without a successful repair, we would have had to evacuate them from their home.  These two Roto-Rooter technicians refused to give up and worked without a break into the night, until they were finally successful at around 9 pm.  They cleaned up the incredible mess, and at all times remained professional, mission-focused, and gracious.  We were so appreciative of their efforts.  If they had said "Sorry, we can't fix it today, we'll be back in the morning," we'd have had a major crisis on our hands.  Their willingness to persevere until they were successful was a huge help to us.
