Mental Health - Psychiatry
Psychiatric evaluation and consultation was outstanding, insightful and professional; we wished to continue. However, the administrator of the Center was unprofessional and troubling and resulted in our terminating treatment at Center. Issues concerned insurance and an involuntary change of therapist because the intake psychiatrist accepted Medicare elsewhere but could not at the Ross Center. (We had paid cash for the evaluation). The administrator said we had to change to a non-Medicare-receiving staff for treatment in accordance with Ross Center policy. Ross, of course, can have any policy they wish, but it is unprofessional to present this after intake rather than before. Building trust with a new patient is crucial to future work. The psychiatrist could not follow-up in his private practice after the initial work took place at Ross--conflict of interest issue.

! They have more conveniences such as a full -time front desk staff and a large, posh offices than most, but then their overhead is high and this is passed on to the client.. What they do not disclose is that your psychologist maybe a part-time "moonlighting" psychologists who have day job elsewhere. and this becomes problematic when they promise to work with a client at their place of business or with school staff during he school day (they can not be two places at once. If you have a child, who benefits from school staff consultations with a psychologist, I would look elsewhere since as in our case the Ross child expert did not have the time to commit to the therapy on-site service she offered and did not fulfill her visitation schedules. In our case, the doctor always had a excuse as to why she could not meet her pre-set scheduling obligations (for five months and 16 promises of set times/dates of on -site meetings with school staff, she only managed to go to 1 and did not provide the consultation advice she promised to the school staff). . After five months , when we discovered she has another day job (from a receptionist), an hour and half from our area, and she changed her schedule availability but did not inform us,, we decided to leave the psychology side of the practice. On the whole , in our case , we were promised many services that were not delivered,? and this was stressful! We found that they offered nothing more than standard talk therapy for children (not the, labor intensive and strategy driven CBT,or expected play or art therapy that was promise) , We believe the psychological services in the long run can be achieved at a much lower fee with much better results at other area practices. it is a beautiful office, in a beautiful area but again, on our case they do not deliver what they promise and it is exhausting getting them to and rescheduling is commonplace . That said, the medical staff (psychiatrists) are fantastic, so if you need this service, without needing psychological services, use the Ross Center ,The only caution we would offer is the psychiatric fees are higher than the norm so you may be paying more out of pocket when submitting insurance reimbursement for fees.

The doctors and staff at the Ross Center have shown themselves to be very caring and good at what they do.
Our doctor has been managing both of our children's medications for 4+ years. We have also engaged in therapy at the center.
They all seem to have a firm grounding in what causes various types of anxiety and anxiety behaviors, they listen well to both adults and children, and were able to develop a series of treatments that brought our children through their teens intact, and on a positive footing for entering into adulthood. They really care, and they know what they are doing.
