questions/concerns to the listing agent. Also, we had many questions
about mortgages, insurance, roofing, etc. and she had great
recommendations for who we could speak to about those issues, if she didn't know the answer herself.
She was also very patient in showing us houses over the course of 5 months,
knowing that we were looking for something very specific. If we saw
something online that was interesting, she often scoped out the house
and neighborhood ahead of time to give us an idea of whether it was
worth visiting, since my husband and I have very busy professional
lives. Jess never pressured us to purchase a house and had no problems with waiting for the right house to come on the market.
When it came time to submit a bid, Jess was very good about giving us information and getting a feel of how many other bids the listing agent had received. Ultimately, she left the entire decision of how much, whether to include an escalation clause, and waiving certain clauses to us.
As an example of her dedication, the house we bought had been
gutted and completely redone, and one of the outstanding items was
getting PEPCO to upgrade the meter. The seller had done as much as
possible to get PEPCO to the house, but PEPCO was slow to respond. Jess
got the specific contact information from the listing agent and called
PEPCO herself to try to move things along.
