Todd was great to work with, responsive, and considerate. The work done was high quality and at a very fair price.

Overall, my husband and I were very pleased with our experience. Todd was very easy to work with and flexible with our schedule and timing as we had a delay in selecting the replacement flooring.
He was priced higher than a few other people that we had received quotes from. However Todd spoke directly with the adjuster to increase the amount being provided for the claim, in the end covering those costs. We added additional items to the quote that seemed to be again be priced higher but he was flexible because of the total value of the project.
There were two hiccups along the way but they recovered professionally.
My only complaint would be the cleanliness of the floor installation. There was a lot of "glue" left on the boards. I was able to scratch it off without damaging the floor but it took a few hours to get everything off.
Response from Charm City Home Improvement
"Hi, thank you for your review. I do apologize if there was any residual glue that was not cleaned up. The manufacturer had required us to glue the tongue and grove joints and unfortunately some residual glue would ooze out. That said, I thought the guys had cleaned up the floors upon completion. If you would have mentioned the concern we would have been over asap to rectify the situation. Thank you and I look forward to working with you again!"

Todd and his team did a great job in helping us plan the bathroom and then execute on the plan. There definitely were some hiccups because the house is old so he had to figure out some solutions on the fly. We love the final result. He also helped out fixing a couple of other items in the house (like rail repair on our stairway and replacement boards for our deck).

Charm City Construction is one of the very best contractors with whom we have ever worked. They successfully undertook a complex project under a tight deadline. It was easy to communicate with Todd and his crew, they did high quality work, and the price-quality relationship was very good. Most impressive was their willingness to try out new designs and new products, and to work with us to meet our idiosyncratic wishes. We intend to use them again.

Working with Charm City Home Improvement, and in particular Todd, could not have gone better and I am extremely grateful that I chose them. I had three quotes from different contractors and his quote was very reasonable. However I chose him because out of the three, he was the only one that didn't make a big deal about the vision I had for my kitchen. The other two made it a huge deal to move certain pipes around and move the appliances around in the kitchen whereas Todd knew exactly what I wanted and said he could do it without any problems. He then did just that and it turned out great and always came up with great solutions for certain things I was looking for (for example, he knew I wanted to hide my washer/dryer that is in my kitchen, so he was able to install sliding doors to hide it).
Charm City Home Improvement was extremely efficient and did all the projects quickly for me. Everything was done on time and there were never any gaps in construction since he knew I wanted to move into my condo as soon as possible. Todd communicated with me very well and everything he did came out even better than I imagined. When he ran into a certain problem, he would call me and give me the options, and then he would give me his suggestion on what to do. He was also very patient with me when I came up with new things for him to do. He would never complain and have them done the next day until I was completely satisfied with everything in my condo.
Also, the workers noticed my ceiling was a little damp and thought it may be from my A/C unit (which in fact it was). After that, I could tell Todd really cared about my entire condo with the fact that he noticed that and told me I needed to call a HVAC company. Then he patched the ceiling and repainted it for me.
Charm City Home Improvement did a wonderful job and did everything I asked. I would recommend them to everyone and very happy I found them.

Charm City did some work on a neighbor's house and I took notice of the beautiful job they did (and they were quiet, considerate, and neat), so I cold called Todd, the owner.
It was a pleasure to work with Todd and his crew. Todd came to look at the job and gave me expert opinion and a detailed quote was sent within 3 three days. They started and finished on time as promised, worked full days (0830-1700) and left my house neat and clean each day. Todd walked through with us when the job was completed to make sure our expectations were met: they exceeded them. People who see our formally nasty plaster walls think that they have been replaced with sheet rock, instead of being the same walls with repaired plaster.
It was a great experience working with Charm City: easy, fair price and exceptional quality.
I plan on using Charm City for some additional work and have no reservations in recommending Todd and his team to my friends.

I've spend the past 4 years renovating my rowhouse. During that time I've done multiple projects myself and acted as a GC for others. We hired professionals for our kitchen remodel because we had a very firm deadline and it was a complicated job. We chose CC based on their professionalism, timeliness, price, and the recommendation of others. I am extremely happy with CC's work, they performed above my expectations in all areas.
Professionalism - The CC crew was respectful of our home and took the necessary steps to minimize dust and noise during the 5 week remodel. Like with any remodel of an old house, surprises can pop up. There were older wiring jobs and a maze of radiator and sink plumbing to negotiate. However, the communication and creative solutions CC provided put me at ease. I was always confident in the project because CC took time to explain the issue, offer solutions, and arrive at the best outcome for both of us. I never felt out of the loop or lacking information.
Several times during the pre-construction period, CC offered new ideas for the kitchen and I was able to incorporate them into our final design before work began. During construction we requested a few changes - they were always accommodated. CC also took the responsibility of working with the suppliers we chose to ensure the material was delivered on time.
Timeliness - The actual construction phase took about 5 1/2 weeks, but the consultation and design phase took a couple months prior to breaking ground. CC was almost always available to meet or talk over the phone, even during non-business hours. During construction, the crew arrived on time every day and worked through the day. We had a very firm deadline for completion - probably unrealistic given the realities of remodeling an older rowhouse. However, the CC finished everything on time. I cannot overestimate how helpful this was.
Price - I received bids from several local companies and CC was competitive. They also were able to pass along discounts from their suppliers for countertops, cabinets, etc. I never felt pressured to use their preferred suppliers and, in fact, used different suppliers for several items. However, the discount and good reputation of the recommended suppliers made them our preferred choice most of the time. We were never disappointed in our choice.
We would unreservedly recommend Charm City Home Improvement to our friends looking for a professional and expert contractor. We plan to use them in the future for other jobs.

Todd arrived early than expected, was courteous and even took off his shoes (it was raining heavily outside) before going into the kitchen. He took out his tools and properly mounted the microwave. The oven was set-up and checked that it worked properly. Todd even answered various questions about other little projects I was thinking about doing to my home, he was patient and knowledgeable.

Great job! Very detail oriented, worked full long days (no starting and then disappearing). Very responsive to questions. Innovative, creative, thoughtful. Best contracting experience I've had and I've had a lot. Wish all contracts were and quot;on itand quot; like Todd Mizrahi. I've recommended him to several clients (I'm a real estate agent) as well.

Everything was exceptionally well! They showed up on time everyday, worked really hard, cleared everything with me before they did it and cleaned up after themselves. I've never seen anyone work so hard. They did beautiful work and the price was very fair. I will definitely use them for our next project.

This is one of the best contractor experiences I have ever had. Charm City Construction is operated by brothers Adam and Todd Mizrahi, two college-educated guys who clearly stand out as intelligent service providers in a sea of regular-joe contractors. My husband and I needed someone to remodel our master bathroom which had an old leaky shower. We wanted someone experienced with installing the Schluter system. I found Charm City by googling “Schluter” and my town’s name. After interviewing several contractors, I felt Charm City would be the best fit. They have installed dozens of Schluter systems, and unlike other contractors who bid on my job, they install it according to manufacturer specs. Other contractors seem to think that cutting corners is okay (literally, cutting out the top half of the Schluter membrane so it doesn’t provide waterproofing above waist-level). But Charm City does it right.

Todd Mizrahi handled the initial communication with me. After emailing the written estimate, he wrote “Please respond with any and all questions.” And these were not empty words. He proceeded to tirelessly answer all of my many questions, providing great advice on products like the exhaust fan, the ready-to-tile shower niche, and more. I had selected a Gerber pedestal sink, but Todd suggested Kohler, which turned out great since it’s actually a taller pedestal (a better fit for my 6-foot-2 husband). Adam also suggested tiling the shower all the way to the ceiling, which gives it a more stylish look and makes the whole room seem larger.

When the job started, Adam and Todd had a third worker with them, Felipe. The first thing they did was lay down Carpet-saver (a clear adhesive film that comes on a wide roll) to protect the carpeted walkways and stairs. They also laid down tarps in the master bedroom. Demo was quick, and all debris was promptly removed, which meant many trips in and out through the front door. Adam was particularly conscientious about closing the front door behind him so bugs wouldn’t get in and air conditioning energy wouldn’t be wasted. Whenever I had questions, Adam and Todd were happy to answer them and didn’t get annoyed or defensive, like a few other contractors I have encountered. My concerns were always treated with respect, no matter how small. When I pointed out a stain on a tarp they were using, Todd promptly changed it to a new one, without making me feel like I was being too picky. Once, Felipe used an upstairs bathroom when I had asked the crew to use the guest bathroom in the basement. (This was nothing personal against the crew; if my husband was sweaty and dirty I would ask him to use the basement bathroom too.) But after I mentioned it, it didn’t happen again. Believe me, since women are most likely the ones who are home while contracting work happens, this kind of stuff does matter. And I really appreciated that Adam and Todd are sensitive to that.

Everything else about the job went fantastically smoothly. Adam and Todd are extremely focused, hard workers. Yet they remain personable and professional. I could tell they really care about the quality of their work. When Todd moved an air duct pipe and provided extra framing to support the shower wall plumbing, he made it stronger and looking better than the way the original builders did it.

After 3 days of demo and prep, Adam alone completed the job. It was truly a pleasure to have him working in my house for 2 weeks. He is very laid-back and thoughtful, and extremely detail-oriented. He asked my opinion of how I wanted the shower niche to be tiled, giving me several decorative options that I would never have considered on my own. (I learned that he is also an aspiring filmmaker, which is why he is so creative.) While start times varied from day to day, he always called to confirm in the morning. Since I work from home, this was never an issue. In addition to installing the Schluter system by the book, Adam added additional pre-tile waterproofing compound on areas of the bathroom floor, like below the shower curb and around the toilet and sink bases. Definitely a good precaution to take if the toilet or sink should ever leak. Adam also did an amazing job tiling, grouting, and caulking. He used special spacers that help prevent tile lippage and took extra care to lay down smooth, even caulk lines.

The job went so well, I am already planning on using Charm City to remodel another bathroom. Bottom line is, these guys know what they’re doing. They’re super-smart, they don’t use subcontractors, and they are reasonably priced for the high quality they deliver. I would highly recommend them to any discerning Angie’s List member.

Todd showed up on time in the morning and completed the tiling in one day, which was surprise since I thought for sure it would take two days. He did not appear to take many breaks and constantly asked for feedback in terms of his work. I will hire him again for any type of kitchen or bathroom remodeling work.
