It's an old house, weak floors. They started the work but didn't complete. They are 95% finished, maybe a half hour worth of work left. He just left it, they said they will come back when they sand the floor. I asked them why he can't finish the work then, he just kept repeating that they will finish the work when they come back and sand and stain the floors. My opinion is they are trying to manipulate me to get more work.

I hired this company for $5400 to refinish hardwood floors in two levels, plus stairs, and handrails. They arrived on time and got to work quickly. That is about the only good thing I can say about them. The floor was rough and uneven, and had debris stuck under the finish. The stairs were even rougher and the edges were messily sanded. The handrail was much worse than its original condition, with discolored patches and uneven finishing. When George Strong came over and I showed him the issues, he got very defensive and claimed I knew how it was going to turn out, that he shouldn't have offered to do the handrails, that this is how water based finish looks like, blah blah blah. He told me that he had given the floor 4 coats of finish, when it was obvious it only got 1. Then he has the gall to tell me that he is willing to pass an extra coat of finish "as a gift to me". I had unfortunately paid 50% down, and he is no longer replying to my correspondence to formally settle at that price so I assume this is overwith. Dealing with this company soured my new homeowner experience. They lie, are abusive on the phone (not the office assistant, she's very nice; just Mr Strong), and really don't give a d*** about getting the job done to the client's satisfaction. My guess is that they do a crummy job as cheaply as they can and hope that the client doesn't complain. If he does, they at least have gotten paid half, which is probably profitable anyway. I just wish I had read Angie's list before hiring these characters.

They did a terrible job. Although they moved my furniture and added an extra coat without charge, it didn't make up for the sloppy sanding and schedule overrun. The floors are now uneven due to indiscriminate use of a belt sander, and scratches can be seen through the finish from low grit sandpaper.

They did a lousy job. They didn't take the sandpaper down to a fine grit, they didn't vacuum the floor before putting down the finish. The floor is porous. There are lumps of sawdust and gack stuck to the floor with finish. The stairs are the worst. They feel like a barn floor. When I called to complain, the owner was very abusive and implied that there was something wrong with me for complaining, and refused to come look at the job. Then they wanted to send over someone to buff the floors and put on another coat of finish. This occurred- after I had moved my furniture in. Given how spectacularly sloppy their work was, I didn't want them in my house again or around my furniture, never mind I didn't have time to babysit them while they worked. We settled at the deposit that I (foolishly) paid up front. My impression is that they do lousy work and then bully people into compliance. They were very quick to suggest the buff and one more coat solution.
