We started going to Atlas Vet two years ago. Initially we were happy with the service and hoped that we had found our long term care provider. Unfortunately we soon learned that Atlas wont process even simple prescription refills without requiring costly repeat cultures and exams. When we tried to discuss this with the Vet we learned that it was impossible to actually speak with the Vet and could only pass messages back and forth via the front desk staff (who is wonderful but not able to discuss prescriptions or medical care). Save yourself money and time and find a Vet that is more than just a business.

The outcome for my cat was not what we wanted but we were so impressed with everything and everybody that we now use AtlasVet.

They are very good veterinary service.  They are wonderful.  I've seen them half dozen times.  They are very nice, caring and very affordable.

I have been going to the vet for about 2 and a half years. The staff and vet are very friendly. They have great customer service and the facility is clean. I really love the vets and technicians there. It is easy to be seen if you schedule a few days in advance. They are very busy, however.

Dr. Cartlidge was great! The staff was great! I recently moved back to DC and needed to find a new vet for my older cat. After a good bit of research I decided to try Atlas Vet and I'm happy I did. My cat is over grooming. Dr. Cartlidge was excellent with a very nervous old cat and discussed multiple options for the cause and treatments for my cat's over grooming. I'm glad to have found a great vet.

I have a fair rating for them. The office is clean. The people are very amicable. The veterinarian was pretty good. It didn't seem to expensive.

It went well, the Dr.'s are always very good about sitting on the floor and engaging/petting/playing with my dog so that he doesn't really notice they are completing an exam (which is great so he isn't afraid of the vet as he had to undergo heartworm treatment with our previous vet in another state- so you can imagine he wasn't thrilled about any place that looked like and quot;the vetand quot;).
All of the staff members are very friendly and it is a nice modern facility with water bowls out front. I particularly like the exam rooms and that the exam table is folded down and blends into the decor unless it's needed, which also helps my dog not realize he is at the vet. They also have the scale right up front and encourage you to walk in and use it anytime if trying to monitor a larger dog's weight.
We have been once for a regular checkup and I think the price was very reasonable it was I believe around $130-$150 with everything and this was our second time for what ended up being an ear infection. I did think it was a bit expensive at $107 ($70 for the exam and the rest being the medicine), however they did fit us in the same day and my only comparison is the cost of vet care in Alabama so this may be reasonable for the DC area). We were also able to get the medicine right there and they were very responsive through email with all of my questions and even had me send photos of my dogs ear rather than making me come in when I had a concern. They always follow up the day after you go in via phone as well, which I really appreciate.

I read the stellar reviews and thought they were too good to be true but no. When I initally made an appointment, there was nothing available that week so I made one for the following week. 5 minutes later, I got a call back saying there was a cancellation and I could move my appointment up, which I did happily. When I arrived, I was impressed at how modern and inviting the space was. My pooch loved the carpet in the exam room so he didnt have to sit on the cold floor. I love the doctor and I thought the visit was one of the most thorough he has ever had.

I highly recommend this place. I took my elderly cat here after moving to the area. The vet was great, she explained things clearly and patiently, gave me lots of options and was sympathetic as I struggled to decide when it was time to let go. When I did decide, the staff were very compassionate and patient. I will definitely take my pets here from now on.

We had no appointment and had never been to this vet before - but they went above and beyond for us. One assistant told us that it would be an hour wait for an emergency visit and cost $95 upfront. But another assistant came out and said if we just wanted the vet to take a look at our dog to let us know if it was an injury needing stitches or not, they could do that right away and without charge. They put our fears at ease and talked with us about our pet's health - all without delay or cost. You can tell they truly care for the animals that walk in their doors.

Atlas Vet and each person that works there is really top notch. Their scheduling is very easy and reliable and the doctors/techs are always professional and friendly. They are very knowledgeable and explain in detail any procedures or decisions they intend to make.
I also need to bring up one example of Atlas going above and beyond expectations. My wife brought our dog to Atlas on a Saturday morning to have her glands expressed (I'll leave it at that), which does not need to be done by a doctor. Unfortunately, we were about to go out of town and needed it done that day, and when she arrived she realized that Atlas was closed because of a street fair event on H Street. The owners were incredible---they were there to set up a tent/booth for Atlas and agreed to take our dog and perform the expression themselves! They weren't even supposed to be open that day! If thats not quality service, I don't know what is. I highly recommend using Atlas as your neighborhood vet.

I just move to DC the week before, and needed to find a vet right of way because my dog was being treated for an anal gland infection and my previous vet recommended that she have her anal glands expressed each week while on antibiotics. My dog saw a technician for an anal gland expression. The place was very nice, and the staff was nice also. I didn't go into the back with my dog, so I can't comment about the treatment areas. I was late to the appointment (hard to find parking) but the technician took her right of way. The treatment was quick and very affordable, and the technician called the next day to see how my dog was doing.
I plan to go back once her medication is finished to see a vet.
There was only one thing that annoyed me about my visit. I called to make an appointment one week before coming to DC. I filled in the new patient information and emailed the vet. I got a response quickly saying they received the information and would call my old vet to have them fax the records over. When I arrived at the vet for the appointment, they hadn't received my paperwork, so they didn't have a record of my dog. They apologized and said there computer had been down for a couple of days, although I had submitted my paperwork well before then. I'm not sure what happened, and whether they have now called my previous vet for records. I'll have to follow up within the next week before scheduling another appointment.
I recommend that if this is a new vet for you to call 1-2 days before your appointment to make sure they have your pet's records.

Everything went great. Our dog has anxiety issues, especially when he is leashed and in close proximity to other dogs. Atlas understands this and assisted us by providing us with the first appointment of the day, and allowed us to wait in the exam room rather than the waiting room (they also brought everything to us in the exam room - medication ordered, bill, etc).
The waiting area and exam rooms are spotless. There's little to no clinical feel to Atlas, so our dog was slightly more at ease, despite his anxiety issues. The exam room was large enough for our dog to play on the floor and Atlas provides plenty of treats for us to keep him busy. The vet has a great bedside manner - he got down on his hands and knees to conduct the examination (our dog never had to get onto a table), and our dog seems to love him. The rest of the staff is caring and courteous.
We have used Atlas in the past for regular checkups, we also purchase medications from them because they offer a better or equal price to online pet stores.

Everyone associated with the visit from setting up the appointment through billing at the end was wonderful and friendly. I was able to get an appointment in a very timely manner. The vet tech and the vet never seemed rushed, answered all the questions I had, and gave the cat a lot of positive attention. They really seemed to like cats and had cats of their own. My cat really responded to their attention.
The facilities were welcoming and clean. The and quot;examand quot; room was wonderful; it had a comfy chair and a rug on the floor and the exam table folds up against the wall. The effect is quite homey; it is certainly the least intimidating vets office I have ever seen.
The whole experience was very positive.
