After much back and forth, including consultation on the phone, the tech who came to the house told me I basically needed an entire new system, at +$6,000. I did pay them $200 cash for their time (they did spend perhaps 90 minutes there). Because I wasn't convinced, I decided to put up with the discomfort a few days an I contacted another company who came and figured out the problem: a $100 part which they installed on Monday. System has been working fine since then (about 3 weeks), and when I told the second company some of the things Arctic had "diagnosed" and told me, they just shook their head in disbelief. If it wasn't outright deception, it was at least gross incompetence in not knowing HVAC systems and heat pumps in particular very well.

Saul was GREAT!!! He took my job at the last minute, called and coordinated with my tenant, and was the BEST PRICE OUT THERE!!!! For HVAC work this guy is honest, trustworthy, and worth far more than his VERY REASONABLE prices. He diagnosed my HVAC and replaced a faulty thermostat. A++++++ I can't write enough plus marks after the A grade he gets. Don't let the small number of reviews fool you....he deserves credit for a job well done.

I have been managing renovations on my homes and rental properties for over 30 years and there are few that are as good as this company.  Saul the owner was a great communicator, showed up on time, met the schedule precisely, was the lowest cost bid, and had the best ideas for routing and location solutions with the least amount of impact. 

There was only one deviation from what we had discussed that left a pipe exposed in a closet that I thought would be in the boiler room, but I'm sure that was a decision made during installation because of some obstacle.  And I'd already agreed to the pipe in a different closet, so there was implied consent for this one.

All the finish work was excellent -- as good as a general contractor would ensure (I've had plumbing companies do some pretty awful drywall repairs).

Saul even had his team clean the filter on the A/C unit in one of my other apartments in the building -- a nice goodwill gesture.

All in all I won't go anywhere else for future A/C installation needs.

We were looking for help on a relatively easy problem-- out pilot light on our water heater had gone out and we could not restart it.  After calling around to several places we were a little discouraged by the high costs just to have someone come out and look at the problem.  As our water heater was only a few years old, we believed the fix was probably easy and straight forward.  We actually saw the Arctic HVAC Services truck parked in front of a house across the street from our son's elementary school.  We called to inquire whether we could schedule an appontment for someone to come by and check out our problem that day.  Mr. Cruz responded and was polite and professional.  Since he lived in our neighborhood, he said he could stop by on his way home from work and gave us a specific price quote.  He called when he was 20 minutes away.  When he arrived, he was polite and friendly.  He spent about an hour at our house and fixed the problem without having to install new parts.  He was honest and forthright and he ended up charging exactly what he said he was going to charge us.  Thirty minutes after he left, he called to follow up and make sure we were getting hot water.  I completely recommend Mr. Cruz and Arctic HVAC Services to anyone.

Arctic had the best quote around. I was happy with the service. They worked with me to find a scheduled day to get everything completed. Fortunately, they were able to come on a weekend before we left on vacation. The work was good and was completed quickly. The technician helped me understand what our house needed. He didn't come in to try to sell me to much. He was honest on what he thought I needed and worked with me on the product. I worked with Saul Cruz.
