LG Appliances

It was my understanding that LG was an up-and-coming brand with quality appliances. Shortly after the purchase, I started to notice an odor coming from the stove, so strong, in fact, that I needed to open the window. I decided it was time to call a repair man. When he arrived, he opened the back panel, and couldn't believe what he saw! Apparently there was a fire inside the panel that had caused the smell, as well as the loss of functionality. Not only had I just purchased the appliances, but I'm only at this location half the year, meaning I had barely used the stove. After calling to voice my concern, LG flatly refused to do anything about it, citing the fact I had not purchased a warranty. I agree, if this had been a regular stove issue, that makes sense. But this is a problem with the model itself, and they need to rethink this appliance! They did absolutely nothing for customer service. I will never buy another LG model again.

They have a local contractor that does services on all their appliances. They sent a technician out to look at the stove and he tells us that it's not unusual to happen, but took photos to send to LG. We were asked by LG to take additional pictures of the oven and send them in as well. These included pictures of the burner underneath the oven which is where the fire was coming from. The fire was not started in the oven while we were cooking it was the burner underneath that caught fire which is an obvious defect. A couple of days later we received a call from the same guy instead of a manager or someone in customer service, and said that they concluded that they will not replace the range and that the cause of the issue was "customer neglect." We were simply baking a potato at the temperature it should have been. I am at a loss with this and cannot understand how this could be our fault. We found out during this process of trying to get them to replace it, that this particular model range had been discontinued in June!
