Air Duct Cleaning
$400
Bought the $49 Amazon Local deal, ended up paying $400 for a smallish house because deal only applies to the first vent. Service was OK-ish but if this had been advertised correctly (minor reduction in price on the first vent), I would have shopped around more.

Carpet Cleaning
$200
The service we received was horrible.  The carpets do not even looked like they have been cleaned and part of our carpets are actually damaged as a result of being "cleaned" by this company.
We had the carpets cleaned on a Saturday morning.  Upon arriving, the technician's machine broke so he had to leave and drive to get a new machine, which delayed the service by hours.  Second, the cleaning of the carpets do not even look like they have been cleaned.  There was a washable crayon mark on one of  the carpets and it did not come out (I wonder if they even cleaned it). Third, and most worringly, one area of our carpets was so soaked -- it soaked through the thick carpet, carpet pad and into the concrete sub-floor.  For the last few days, we have been air drying these, and they are still not dry over 5 days later (we were told the carpet would be dry after 8 hours).   Further, there is a ring of stain from the solution and we think our carpet may be permanently damaged.  Fourth, prior to booking the service, I was also quoted that the landings were $4 each.  They charged us $15/landing.  The manager was very defensive and said that we have "large landings" when in reality, we don't.  We live in a modest town house in the suburbs of DC.
When I called to complain, the manager was extremely rude and combative and in serious denial about the quality of service.  He asked me repeatedly why I was complaining.  I explained several times my issues.  Had the manager been somewhat sympathetic and tried to solve the problem, I would not write such a harsh review.  The manager offered to send someone out to look at the mistakes made, however, after speaking with the manager, I do not feel comfortable having him or people who work for him in my home.
I believe in the power of Angie's list and I really hope to stop someone else from using this company and making the same mistake we did by hiring this company.
I would not recommend this company.  Seriously, DO NOT USE THEM.  I regret using them, and I have learned my lesson to conduct more thorough research before using a company.  You get what you pay for.

Air Duct Cleaning, Dryer Vent Cleaning
$215
This was an Amazon Local deal:   $49 for air duct cleaning.
The provider arrived within the times agreed.  He was courteous and professional - handshake, clean booties when in the house, etc.  He examined my system and told me what was covered in my deal, and what was not.  The deal was good for one main duct, one return, and unlimited supply vent cleaning, as well as a dryer vent cleaning (up to 5 feet.)
After the examination of my air ducts I learned that we had two main duct, one return, one supply.  The return duct, usually being the dirtiest in systems would be cleaned and he would vacuum the rest of the vents.  Or for an additional $165 he would clean the supply duct that fed the vents as well.  Also, for another $135 he would sanitize the system.
I agreed to the supply duct cleaning.  My $49 deal just turned into $214.  The service took about two hours.  Havning never been through an air duct cleaning before I don't have anything to compare this too.  I followed the technician around the house and can say that he was competent and seemed efficient.  Somewhere between the dryer vent getting cleaned, from the outside in, and the clean up of the equipment, the booties he was wearing vanished.  His clean up left a bit to be desired, as I had to vacuum three areas of the floor that he supposedly cleaned, after he left.  My kitchen vent doesn't look like it was cleaned, even though I watched him do it.  I guess only the inside of the vents/ducts was included, not the outside of the vents.
All in all, I'm glad we got the vents cleaned, and I'm glad I was watching him do it as well so I know what actually happened.
Would I recommend this provider in the future - maybe, if it was a really great deal that was explained upfront, and if you had nothing to lose by doing it.
