Horrible and I was taken and for the full contract price and wasn't delivered what was promised!!! He was hired in February of 2010 to build custom kitchens, do paneling and custom trim work and paint in our new addition. The project was suppose to be completed by the end of May. Needless to say, it's Oct 25th, and I don't have kitchens done, the trim isn't completed and the painting is 20 percent done. Yet and admittedly foolishly so, I had paid him in full over the course of the project as he kept telling me he was running out of money and would have to leave the project. What had happened was he had hired guys to help him, and while they showed up for work at 7:00am, he showed up at 1:00pm acting like the big GC while his workers were taking $2,000 a week in pay, Some of which he didn't pay in full and are still coming to my property looking for money. What was left in the project was more then one person can handle yet he convinced us that the other guys that he had to "train" slowed him down. He was so devious that he wouldn't finish any particular part of the project because this way he could never be fired, his way of ensuring I keep him on board. He even went so far as to mix his own paints so I couldn't hire someone else to do the job. He got me to pay him a $1000 a week - mind you he was paid in full already, and I know it sounds crazy but he would say I will owe you this money and pay you back but right now I need it to finish this job. After this was going on for 5 weeks and I was not seeing the end of the tunnel, I had a long talk with him where we had a discussion about what was left and how I was going to handle payment going forward. he told me it would take an additional 90 days, mind you the job was due to be done in May so he was forecasting the completion in late January 2011 almost a year after he started and would have been significantly over budget. I told him that the only way I would agree to this was that if we did it by project, meaning that he would have to accomplish a project every couple of weeks and which time I would then pay him the money due. If the project wasn't done, he wouldn't get that payment. We shook hands and he agreed to make that happen and get out of our home. The next morning after showing up a hour after he was due to be here, he backed his truck in as if to pack his things. When I confronted him, he said that this wasn't going to work. I then told him he is fired and told him to leave. We then called him the following day and asked him to clean up his mess and get his tools out of here to which he replied, no one will tell me what to do, I will come get my tools and that's all I'm doing. We waited the entire day and he never showed - surprise surprise!!!. I will now need to get the place cleaned just so other contractors can start finishing the job. My wife and I feel violated by someone we had in our home, we took out for dinner and treated him with respect, only to be lied to and ripped off by that same person. It's a devastating feeling when someone does that to you. I hope this story prevents others from the damage that Keith Baker is capable of. Don't get sucked in like we did with all the great promises of building a castle for you, he's devious and is out for no one but himself, I unfortunately have this experience first hand!! He does work in NYC and CT and the Vineyard. Baker is not his birth name as he had it changed when he was a young adult . His real name is Keith Efemeoutous (that is probably not he right spelling) he's Greek, graduated Danbury High in the mid 80's and lives in Woodbry. Be careful he's not worth it despite the stories he will tell you and what he will tell you he will do for your property!!!!
