"I am deeply saddened by our former client's negative comments. During design and construction I was under the impression that we had a good working relationship and collaboration and that they were satisfied with the house and its performance when it was completed. I wish they had contacted us long ago to inform us of their continuing dissatisfaction and we would have tried to satisfy them. Perhaps nothing would have satisfied them considering the grade they gave our firm. There may be other underlying issues which explain the comments, particularly the negative reference to a religious group, the facts of which also happen to be incorrect. This statement is rather inflammatory and may betray that there is more behind the criticism than mere construction issues. Also, every contractor was hired directly by the homeowner with our firm providing on site construction management. So they picked the successful contractors form multiple bidders for each trade. In most cases I believe they picked the low bidders. It is true that part of the program was to facilitate aging in place, however, it was not to make it "handicap accessible" which would have meant adding ramps, no changes in floor level and other building elements which they seemed quite pleased with at the time and accepted with full knowledge. We were not aware that a door had to be widened later on. It was not our charge to make the house fit for wheelchair maneuvering throughout the house or else the design would have been quite different. The comment that a walker of wheelchair cannot go from the front door to the bedroom on one level is not true. We checked our drawings and photographs to be sure of this. Floor plans and reality do not lie. Our office records indicate that we responded to our client's inquiries after they moved into the house and had corrective actions taken by the contractors when needed. Apparently other issues may have arisen later that they chose not to inform us of. There are many unedited positive comments available as testimonies on our website and on LinkedIn. Please feel free to read those and then weigh them against this client's report. Since the completion of the design of this house we have worked on about 350 more projects. More than half of our revenue is derived from repeat clients and referrals from happy clients. I will have to let our reputation stand as it is and as the people who know me and my firm will attest. Again, I must say I truly regret the criticism and wish I had the opportunity to address these directly, however, the tone of some of the statements indicates that may not have been achievable. The homeowners were lovely people to work with and I liked them very much. I wish them only the best. Sincerely, Greg Milton Gregory Grew, AIA, CEO Grew Design Inc"
