We've worked with Rick and his crew for 6+ years. He was originally referred by our real estate agent. The first job was a major remodel when we purchased our home. They recommended and coordinated work with multiple 3rd party companies, which made it a breeze for us. They were a godsend after Hurricane Sandy. The response was quick and the price was fair. We hire them multiple times a year for a wide variety of jobs, both interior and exterior, including help with our floating dock. We've always found Rick to be extremely trustworthy, timely, and professional. His recommendations are cost conscious. His crew is meticulous and tidy at the end of each day. We've owned several homes throughout the US, and Burke Construction is a resource we wish we'd had for all of them.

Out standing job on my old garage.  He made it look like new without replacing it.  New front facing, new shingles, an new side on one of the of the garage saving me a lot of money. Replaced to overhanging areas with new shingles.  The final cost was under the estimate.

We first used Rick Burke to put a library addition on the back of our house.  My husband designed the addition, and Burke Construction built it exactly as my husband imagined it.  Rick's crew is tremendous!  Later, Rick rebuilt our sea wall and dock after hurricane Sandy hit us.  Most recently, he built us a new beach-style driveway.

I had Burke Construction build a new 4,000 sf retail building for me. Rick Burke personally supervised the entire process.  His company did a wonderful job.  Rick saved me $18,000 by value engineering a retaining wall on the site. We both started the job with a smile, and we finished the job with a smile. I've had his company back to do two additional projects.

This was the worst experience. At the onset I stressed how important it was for the project to be completed on time. He went over his own estimate of the completion date by 8 months. This was a major renovation and apparently more than he was accustomed to handling. He only had one carpenter on the job for the first several months and kept referring to him as his crew. When I pointed out that one person does not make a "crew" and that this was taking much longer than he promised he said if you "have more than one worker they just get in each others way". He was also extremely rude to both my architect and me and seemed to have a hard time working with women. There are just too many issues to go into but I would absolutely recommend adding a financial penalty to the contract if the job is not completed as scheduled. He was also very difficult to contact. He did not have voicemail on his phone so I had to email him and he would sometime take a day or more to respond. When we set up appointments to go over the renovation work he would always have a reason why he could only give me 15 minutes of his time. I had a major renovation at my home that was completed with no problems at all but this ended being one year of torture for me.
Response from Burke Construction
"This was the architect's first commercial design job. The project was only 50% designed upon commencement. The architect and owner signed and issued 21 work change orders. The scope of the project changed each week. My on-site crew consisted of six carpenters during the demolition and framing phases. Two carpenters remained on-site during the trim and finish work phases. The owners hired their own electrical, plumbing and flooring tradespeople, in an effort to save money. Each of their tradespeople received stop work orders from the local building department for work done without permits and work not to code. Even though this job was a challenge to my patience, we managed to get through it all the way to the end. The owner's business was never shut down for even a single day during a major renovation."
