I think the company failed me as a potential consumer n terms of giving me their word that the estimate was coming and that the winter would be a good time to do the work professionalism. Perhaps because of my complaints about the mess that Penna made of my curb when doing the neighbor's project, or my calling them out on what I perceived to be a derogatory remark they made about my neighbors within my earshot poisoned the well water, so to speak. I don't know. As a former consumer protection attorney in the Attorney General's office I am generally not naïve in the ways of interfacing with commercial interests. But I was in this case. Shame on Penna for treating even one potential consumer the way it treated me. Shame on Mr Penna, Josh and the two office administrators who led me on believing I was making progress when I believe they were just blowing me off. In my esperience, the company is unprofessional, rude ( or worse) toward customers and potential customers and, in my opinion, plainly does not merit a good rating.
Description of Work: I observed AJ Penna and Son working at our neighbor's house excavating to provide a waterline to neighbor's house and in the process of digging in street in front of my house, AJ Penna damaged the shoulder in front of my house and I asked them to fix problem and it did to my satisfaction In addition, I over-heard a company worker say something I felt was derogatory toward my neighbors and I told the company in a telephone call about what had seemed to be an unfriendky remark about the two men who are my neighbors. In the end, neighbors were happy with AJ Penna's work results A couple of months later, I called Penna to give me an estimate to place our electric power line underground and excavate part of our driveway to fix a drainage problem. Although I called AJ Penna and set up an appointment, they never responded except to cancel the appointment until finally they send an employee out to look at my property and the issues, But I never received an estimate from them despite promises that it was coming and Mr. Penna himself would call me. There was no estimate and no call. Finally, I called and got an answer: the womwn who is the office manager told me that the company was too busy at the moment to commit to any work until the winter. I told her that was fine but I still wanted the estimate. She promised " it is coming but Mr. Penna needs to review the project first. I told her I would wait for winter if the work could occur in the cold weather,. She said it could under certain conditions. My records thereafter show that I made a total of 7 calls to AJ Penna to check on getting the estimate and inquire about the work time frame. During those 7 calls I spoke moistly to the office manager and the office admin assistant. To speed up here, I never got an estimate and never got any substantive follow-up call from Penna. They completely flouted my inquiry and desire to move ahead with an estimate for almost two years! The winter season came and went - when Penna told me that they could do the job, and I relied on their statement to wait if I wished until the winter because I wanted them to hopefully do the work. Even though they led me to believe that because I was going to wait to get on their work assignment schedule until the winter, I believe now that the company simply chose not to work with me and hope that I would disappear in frustration. I did not - why? I knew the company's work was good and knew I could trust its work. What I did not know is that their "word" about waiting till winter to do the work, and that the estimate was coming, was false - and they basically led me around by the nose and dropped the ball time after time through my gullible calls to their office and Mr. Penna.
