He found two needed cleaning and another needed repairs. He’s totally trustworthy and reliable. I recommend him without hesitation! Cost given below is for inspecting the seven chimneys.

The cleaner was polite and tidy. He gave advice on how often the flue should be cleaned based on evidence from the cleaning.

Dave did a wonderful job. He is extremely friendly and knowledgable. He was quick and efficient and made no mess whatsoever. He recommended some things to keep an eye one and all in all he did a fantastic job. I would highly recommend him.

He was so knowledgeable! He patiently explained everything we needed to know about proper care of our fireplace. We made future plans for him to come in the spring/summer to install the proper chimney cap - we were without any cap on our chimney at the time.

We have had August West come to clean our hard working stove every year for a decade. It is our main source of heat so we baby our stove, and we find that AW takes superb care of it for us. He is the only one we would use.

I would highly recommend August West Chimney Sweeps. James disconnected the chimney from the stove and pulled it out of the ceiling so he could clean all parts. He used a vacuum to keep the area clean as he cleaned out the chimney. He did a thorough job. He also inspected the basement chimney at no charge and told me it could go another couple of years before needing to be swept based upond low use. Very honest as he could have made more money if he said it needed to be swept. He also took a look at the exhaust for the oil heating system and made a suggestion for getting a part replaced. Overall I was quite satisfied and felt he did a thorough job and I would recommend August West and will use them again.

Faced with unusual challenges, Dave has had to modify the work plan. Normally, the chimney to the boiler is perfectly straight. In the case of our house, the chimney to the firelplace was perfectly straight and the chimney to the boiler had two bends.
The chimney liner is flexible and had to negotiate two turns in its path from the top of the chimney to the boiler. The first attempt failed as the specified liner was too large to make the bends/curves in the chimney. Dave promptly reordered a new liner with a slightly smaller diameter, and fitted the new liner perfectly. He did not passed the restocking fees back to me at all and we agreed on a fair adjustment to the original estimate (very small) for the additional work involved in the project.
I would hire him back in an instant as a skilled professional that gets the job done right for a fair price.

James, the owner of the local franchise, has been cleaning my wood-burning fireplace insert's flue for at least 5 years - visiting annually. He's always been punctual and responds to phone messages within a day or two. Seems to do a thorough job on the flue and checks other systems, like the damper, door gaskets, and catalyst (if any).A quiet individual, he seems to like working at his own pace but answers all questions with courtesy. He's never pushed unneeded repairs and uses a vacuum to prevent the spread of soot. At this point, after at least 5 visits, I can't see using a new sweep. He'll arrive with the seemingly obligatory top hat - probably a requirement of the August West franchise, but is otherwise totally unaffected. He willingly takes checks in payment, but I don't know if he accepts plastic as well.

We were very pleased with them although we thought they were a bit pricey. I thought they were very cordial and efficient but we did not see any advertised prices.

We called August Chimney Sweep and they were very friendly and knowledgeable. They were helpful in identify what service we probably needed based on the issues we were having and also were great in recommending other local companies that they trust.When Dave came to perform the work, he took his timing explaining what the process was and what would achieve. He proceeded to lay down mats and was extremely careful about keeping our house clean. The whole cleaning took about an hour and he even went up to the roof to inspect the top of the chimney to make sure it was in good shape. I would absolutely have Dave come back and do more work when needed.

They did a good job. They are on time twice and cleaned up after themselves. He did exactly what I needed.

He took the extra time to explain the mechanics of the wood burning stove and at my request took a look at the outside chimneys to make sure no animals could get in.

He was courteous, responsive and a very honest man. He could have told us the cleaning needed to be done and we would not have known the difference! We were shocked that he refused payment.

Good. I was scrambling to find a good chimney cleaning service and they came through for me.

They were referred to me by someone. The work turned out great. They were timely, quick, clean and efficient. The workers were professional and nice, and cleaned the chimney out really well. I would use them again in the future if necessary.

I would highly recommend them because of their level of service, quality and price. I chose them because they were both reputable and affordable. I also felt comfortable with them in my home.

Friendly, professional & honest. Also provided tips for better fires. I don't recall the cost, but it was reasonable.

Workman came early so I missed his visit; although I had been told he would inspect the chimney and provide a report, instead he just cleaned one fireplace and left. He said the presence of our woodburning stove insert prevented him from being able to clean the second fireplace. Fee was slightly more than I had expected ($180 vs 150) based on other August West jobs reviewed here, and I felt dissatisfied that there was no report on the overall condition of the chimney as I had been led to expect. It appears they did a good job but you can't tell either way. They were neat, however, and did call and show up after I called them.

They arrived on time on the date agreed. The chimney was done efficiently and in a timely manner. I had searched around and had found their price to be very competitive. Will use them AGAIN!!
