VALVOLINE INSTANT OIL CHANGE

This is one of the finest businesses I've ever dealt with!!! At 66 yrs old, and now living alone in a 2-BR apt, but a former homeowner for 40 years, having many years of experience with a gazillion service providers and GC's and subs and handymen and gardeners and auto service stations and body shops, etc . . .I can look back on about 3-5 service providers during my lifetime who are soooo very far over the top as to be almost Perfect, esp in this age of diminished customer service and oftentimes mediocre quality of performance. This Valvoline station is one of those 3-5 at the very TOP of my whole lifelong list!!! These guys are the greatest!!! When I moved out of my house 5 yrs ago, my health was starting to fail, so I didn't take my car out often. Then tires got soft and I got "Low Pressure" warning on my dash. First time I stopped in for their help, they checked all tires, inflated the soft one. . .and then did not charge me at all, and would not accept any pmt or even a tip! That happened several times (leaky tire?), but they never chgd me for their time and effort, however brief. Sooooo, to repay their kindness, I baked them 2 batches of Ghirardelli brownies one time, and home-baked cookies another time, and still drop off goodies every few months for them. They have nicknamed me "the Cookie Lady"! These guys are so great. . .last winter I even called them for "help", 'coz I needed some young strong muscles to shovel my car out from a snowstorm. After they closed, the former manager walked over to my apt complex and shoveled my car out for me, and then wouldn't even take pmt until I absolutely insisted! They've done my Emissions test, and oil changes (incl'g air and oil filters, etc. and ck'g other things) since Feb 2009. On some of those occasions, I asked 2 different handymen to take my car over for the servicing, and both times, the handyman raved about outstanding service and courtesy when he came back. . .so it's not just me! I just got notice from DMV of my Emissions test due for car registration renewal next month. So I need to go back soon and get and pay for the State Emissions test and the standard price for Valvoline oil change, etc. service. But, guess I also need to get my oven heated up, 'coz this time I think I'll make them a couple dozen cupcakes of my famous Carrot Cake recipe with cream cheese frosting (perfect for autumn season, and with enough for them to bring some home to their families)!!! Recently watched an interview with multi-billionaire Warren Buffett, with his son and grandson. He said that of all the gigantic $$$ investment deals he's made in his lifetime, most all were based on character of the other person, and trust, ethics, and integrity, and nearly all were sealed only with a handshake. That's how I've tried to lead my own life, and I choose service providers in the same way. These guys are "Good People"!!! If Angie had a Triple-A rating, they'd get it from me! This Valvoline center has an exceptional service rating within their company. A simple oil change was performed on my car. Yes, they tried to "upsell" me on some higher quality stuff but what good salesman doesn't try to do that? I just told them I was only interested in the basic service and they were very polite, understanding, and even accommodating of some of my unusual requests. Afterwards they asked me to fill out a phone survey and I did. The survey obviously provides the parent company a sense of what's going on at a working level and I get put in for a drawing for something... seemed worthwhile to do. All in all this is a well-lubed Valvoline shop and I would trust my cars to them to perform simple oil changes or emissions tests and you should too.

My wife drove in and asked how much for an oil change. The told her to get out of the car so they could drive it in to the bay and take a look at it. They then told her that it "needed" a number of things the car did not need (and which had been recently serviced at a leading certified dealer) for a price of $250.00 She asked them to call me. Realizing they were "upselling" things not needed I asked that they close the hood and return the car to my wife. They cold me they could not because they had already drained the oil. If I wanted the quality of oil called for in the factory specs, I would have to pay the $69.95 for the new oil.
