We ordered our appliances, well in advance that our contractors needed. Lavery's work with our contractor supplying all the appliance specs as they were needed for cabinetry and granite work. Delivery was on time.
HOWEVER, today I found a piece dangling from the bottom of the new refrigerator and called the store to talk with someone who could tell me if this is a problem or not. The salesman, Eric, who answered the phone informed me that this was not a warranty issue, notwithstanding the fact that he had no idea what this piece is. He went on to say that there were no service people who could talk to me, and that someone would have to come to the house---and we would be charged for this visit. He told me I should call GE directly myself and have someone there help me.
I find it hard to believe that an installer couldn't spare two minutes to call me and tell me if this is a problem or not.
I emailed the salesman who worked with us, but I've yet to hear from him. I'm hoping to get the owner's email address and send him a copy of my concerns.
UPDATE:
The original salesman called me and began the conversation by trying to explain the reaction from Eric. I cut him off, not interested in any conversation that would try to excuse bad behavior. He did have an answer to my question. It would have been so much easier and so much more pleasant an experience if that had happened when I called originally. I still would not recommend this store.
It still took about 2 weeks to be repaired. The first time they said it was done, it was not working properly so I had to
return it and it took another week before I had to pick it up again.
The delivery was on time. They removed the old refrigerator. When they unwrapped the new refrigerator it had a dent in the side. I had the driver note the fact of the dent on the slip. But I accepted the fridge because the old one was broken.
I contacted the store and left a message with the salesman about the dent, asking for a partial refund. I never got a call back from the store or the salesman and I figured that I would get nothing. However when I got my credit card bill there was a refund of $25. It seems to me that a dent in a new $1300 refrigerator should be more than $25. I never pursued getting more which I probably should have.
I don't think I will go to this store again for an appliance.
I would like to tell the guys in the West Hartford store, don't judge a book by the cover. I took a week off from work to remodel an apartment and do as much as I could myself. I was in the middle of pulling down wallpaper when the plumber stopped by and we were discussing dishwashers and garbage disposals. He said let's run over to Lavery's in West Hartford and I'll show / explain what he meant about installation of a dishwasher and to look at the size of the disposal you can buy to fit a small kitchen sink base. Great, we drove down, (I didn't have time to change out of my painted work clothes) and we walked into the store. I can't even recall which sales guy approached us and we explained to him what we wanted to look at and if they could show me a dishwasher and show me how it installs with a granite counter vs. a laminate counter. He proceeded to point us in the direction of the dishwasher and wanted to know what the model number was for the disposal. We looked and they I decided to ask the sales person some additional questions and the attitude I got was when you are ready to purchase, you should come back then. It was suggested that I may want to try a used appliance store. What he didn't hear is that I ordered custom white kitchen cabinets and wanted an all white kitchen (no stainless) for a high end rental property in the desirable walk to the Center / BBS area.
I felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman and the sales clerk, yes, I will call those guys a clerk, not wanting to give me the time of day, let alone think that I couldn't afford to purchase something at Lavery's. Needless to say, my plumber, who is a native of West Hartford (I am as well) couldn't believe the and quot;snobbyand quot; attitude we received. We left the store.
A few days earlier, I had called the New Haven store to inquire about a white dishwasher and received a call back that they had a model change and had an floor model for sale. The manager at that store was very nice and I ended up purchasing the dishwasher and disposal from the New Haven store. I called the West Hartford store back, spoke to the same clerk (can't recall his name) and asked him if he remembered me -- he said yes. I told him that the sale went to the New Haven location and that I had a few other West Hartford Center apartments I was renovating and they would not be getting my business.
Just this past June 2012, I called the New Haven store to try and source a white dishwasher at a good price. Chef was very helpful, told me about a floor model, gave me the model number to look up online and emailed me a picture. I purchased the dishwasher site unseen and it was delivered as scheduled.
What a difference between the two stores! New Haven is pleasant to deal with and the guys in West Hartford have such attitude. Just because I didn't pop into the store with an interior designer in tow, doesn't mean I don't have the intention or resources to purchase appliances from Lavery's in West Hartford.
I am currently working on another kitchen remodel and will need appliances, I won't be going to Lavery's in West Hartford.
We initially called Bosch to find out where we could have the item serviced and they referred us to SK Lavery in town. We called to schedule a service call on June 11th. The repairman was punctual and arrived within the allotted time. He assessed the problem but he couldn't definitely identify the cause. He suspected it was a malfunction in a minor part and he proceeded to order part while he was in our kitchen. He said the part would arrive in about three days and that someone would call us to schedule another visit within a week to repair the fridge. After not hearing from them in a few weeks, we called SK Lavery one morning and was told the part was in and that the repairman had picked up the piece and was coming to our house that morning. This was a complete surprise, as no one from SK Lavery had called to inform us of this. As it turns out, it was a complete lie since no repair came to our house that day. About four or five days later, someone from SK Lavery called to say our part was in and we scheduled an appoint for Friday July 13th. On July 13, after taking time off from work, I waited during the allotted time only to receive a call from SK Lavery indicating the part was now LOST and no one was coming to fix our fridge that day. They would need to RE-ORDER the part and call us when it came in. The person said it would be no later than Tuesday, July 17th. To date, we have not received a call. Today, I called to check the status and after being transferred to multiple departments I finally spoke with someone who said the part was in and someone will be out next Wednesday to install the new part. Regardless of how the situation turns out, dealing with SK Lavery on such a minor problem has proven be rather difficult and frustrating, to say the least.
