HESS did a great job at mowing my lawn, quick and easy without any mishaps. I would absolutely hire again and plan too.

Francis from Hess is the owner. He came and gave me a quote of $150 a week to mow my lawn. I even paid him $200 for the first mow. Needless to say, he over charged me. I thought he was giving me a fair price, I later learned that other landscapers charge only $80 a week. I take responsibility for being suckered into paying so much. But the WORST part, is that he did work without a contract and sent me an invoice for $1300. When I said I was not going to pay it, he showed up uninvited and asked to make amends. Francis started crying about his personal life with his sick family members, his alcoholism, and his romantic relationships. I felt sorry for him so I paid him half and he agreed to it. When I asked him to sign the invoice that half of the money was acceptable - he signed the invoice as Malcolm X! that was disgusting behavior. I had to ask him to be professional and sign the invoice with his real name. His behavior was so disgusting, he took a '****' in my yard! Please do not use this landscaper. There are so many other classy and honorable landscapers in the area.

Outstanding customer service. After another tree "service" (and I use the term loosely) refused to do the job on the day they had scheduled it (despite the fact that their crew was at my house, and I had been waiting for nearly 6 weeks for them to do the work), I contacted Francis at Hess Tree Service -- and I could not have been happier with his responsiveness, professionalism and demeanor. An absolute pleasure to do business with. He came out to look at the work that needed to be done on Thursday -- and came to do the job the very next day (and for a lower cost than the previous "service" had quoted. Francis' climber Paul was unbelievable -- whether working from the bucket truck, or shimmying his way up / down a massive fir tree. I would recommend Hess Tree Service highly and without reservation -- and will be using them again later this year. Thanks Francis, Paul and crew -- and keep up the good work.

I have been using Hess for routine lawn and garden care for many years and they are completely reliable. There is very low turnover so I have same trustworthy guys in my yard all of the time. They care about the quality of the work they do, they are good about blowing the loose grass off the driveway, they blow the leaves off my deck if it needs it and if I leave my garage door open they will even blow the leaves out of there. Fran, the owner, returns my phone calls immediately and is willing to do whatever I ask him to. 

Fran wants very much to please the customer but sometimes he does what he thinks you want so it is necessary to be on hand to make sure he is doing what you really want, thus the B rating. However, for routine maintenance I would give them an A.

Never provided a written proposal, showed up without scheduling a start date, constantly changed materials and design and ultimately wanted to argue about everything. very unpleasant.
