Oh my god! Where do I begin!? Let me just start out by saying that Mr. Paul Martin was exceptional! A true professional!
It started out on a Valentines Day evening where I was in a meeting with my real estate agent and her agent/husband. We were trying to decide who would be the right fit for what I was trying to do. I was looking for a broker who specializes in 203K construction loans. There weren't many in my area and Paul came highly recommended. We thought to call his cell but thought it wasn't appropriate being Valentines night. Paul replied to our text with a call moments later while out with his wife on this special evening. Thank you Mrs. Martin!
To make this long, long story a bit shorter, I'll simply say that Paul, my agent and I went through a lot of footwork with one property to get the construction funded but found there was too much to do and the numbers just didn't work. We moved on to the other house I had my eyes on. Once I was able to visit the second home, I realized I wanted it and had to act fast. After an agreement in terms, an appraisal that was lower than the agreed upon purchase price, an independent appraisal by the lender which brought the price down $17,000.00 even further, tax papers being delayed by the IRS due to my being self-employed and a very upset seller, I sit in my new home after closing on June 3rd, 2014 and don't believe if I had anyone other than Paul Martin of Allied Funding Group in Wallingford, I wouldn't be sitting here as happy and grateful as I am today. So many times during the process of underwriting this loan, there were hiccups, delays and repeated requests from the lender. Paul never let any of it bother him. He was honest, forthright and determined to get me the right loan and continued to assure me these things happen and to not get upset by any of what the lender was requesting.
I would recommend Paul Martin to anyone looking for a standard mortgage or a construction loan. I'm quite confident he's the right person to go to when I look to purchase my next income property.
