I am a retired Navy Chief in the Submarine Service and former OSHA inspector. In a word, I am particular about most everything. Rick came out to the house and surveyed the scope of work. He saved me money by having me purchase the items needed at Lowe's with my military discount. He checked the code requirements and made sure I had my permit from the town and then checked all of the materials prior to starting. All of the work took place over three different days. He was on time for each with exception of a scheduling problem once. We worked out the price up front and his prices for labor were very reasonable. He has had about fifteen years experience in the construction and chimney trades working for others and is now a partner in his own business. He has $2 million in liability insurance and I did a background check and found no problems/complaints with the State of Connecticut or BBB. As a fairly new entrepreneur, I found his professionalism and work ethic refreshing. I have referred him to others and will have him back for twice yearly cleaning. He alerted me to a program sponsored by the American Lung Association that I was unaware of that gives rebates/vouchers of $1000 to promote clean air in wood stoves; too late for me but will be good for others. Lastly, he is clean. No soot, no grime and ready for the coming 2014 Fall heating.
